I have tried to recharge the battery on my Nokia 700 (BP 5Z) on the go using the DC-8 extra power charger, but if anything it actually runs the battery down!

 

This makes me suspicious of the DC-16 as well and I cant really be bothered having to do 2 lots of charging, so I have decided I'd do better carrying a spare battery with me, but I need a desktop charger to charge it.

 

Will the DT-33 do the business? If not what can I use to charge a BP 5Z not inserted in a phone?

Yes it works.

I have a DT-33 charger. The battery for Nokia 700, 701 and 808 they all can be charged with DT-33.

I think that Nokia should do a follow up with higher power to be able to recharge batteries faster. I actually love DT-33 and the design.
