I think I got a fake BH-905i headphone off of Ebay

It looks real, but

(1) The leather feels cheap as compared to my Bose QC15 and my Audio Technica ANC9.

(2) The sound is awful, like a cheap $10 headphone.

(3) The "active noise cancellation" has absolutely no effect. It is a dummy switch and when you turn it on the light turns blue, not green.

Again though the box and the buttons etc. all look perfectly authentic. What's troubling is that there is no warranty information in the box anywhere, and I asked another purchaser and he said Nokia doesn't give a warranty for their products!

Any way, if you go on Ebay these headphones are selling super cheap right now, like $75, and I'm pretty sure these are fakes - otherwise Nokia's quality is terrible.

Re: I think I got a fake BH-905i headphone off of Ebay

I may have been taken by the same ebayers.  I recently received my pair of bh-905i's in the mail from China.  Bought for around $100, I do see that they are indeed $75 now.

My ANC did not work either.  However, my light did actually turn green.  The bluetooth connectivity was terrible.  The sound would chop in and out while my phone was in my pocket just walking down the street.  The headphone sound was also unbalanced - the left was duller than the right.  There was a hiss while use in bluetooth mode but only in the left headphone.  And I agree, the sound quality was not so hot.

I've sent them back to the seller.  They actually had some damage on them, the casing holding the left headphone to the metal adjusting mechanism was loose.  I wrote them back and told them that I expect a genuine pair of Nokia BH-905i's.  Worse comes to worse, I get a refund from the seller or contact Ebay to make good on my buyer protection.

I'm curious - are your adapters fitted with a silver sheeth?  Mine are, and based on the pictures I've seen... they are supposed to be black with Nokia logos.

Re: I think I got a fake BH-905i headphone off of Ebay

I'm pretty sure I got them from the exact same seller (same price change).

I received them this morning and I have the same symptoms... It all lead me to believe these are fake.

No ANC, cheap quality build (next/prev buttons), very poor audio quality...

I know Nokia quality, and this definitely isn't.

PS : no Nokia logo on adapters.

Re: I think I got a fake BH-905i headphone off of Ebay

Hey guys,

In case you are still following this thread... I thought you'd like to know:

I can say with 100% certainty that those headphones are indeed fake.  (I'm the 2nd poster in the thread)  I decided to purchase the headphones from amazon.com, an accepted Nokia dealer, while I deal with refund negotiations with the seller.  They are FAKE.  Once you open the box for the real ones, you know.

Not only are the adapters, cables, case and everything legit - plastered with Nokia Logos... but everything is as advertised.  The sound quality is awesome, the headphones are sturdy and comfortable.  Remember how you would turn on the ANC on the **bleep** ones and ask "is this thing on?"... well, once you turn on the REAL ANC, you're no longer wondering if it's working.  It works phenomenally.  Bluetooth connectivity doesn't drop out either.

I suggest you contact the seller and ask for a refund.  If you have buyer protection on the auction (mine did), there is a clause that discusses the autheticity of items and that you are covered.  Good luck.

That's some great news!

How did you contact the seller for the refund? Did you talk about the product's authenticity?

Was the seller's answer positive?

Thanks for the information:smileywink: - Good luck

What was paypal's excuse for not refunding?
