Re: Overcharging decreases battery life?

It's not possible to overcharge the battery in any current Nokia phone. Once the phone detects that the battery is full charging will stop.

Re: Overcharging decreases battery life?

Yes, even when the charger is left plugged in.

The phone knows that the charger is connected and will switch to a trickle charging mode where it will only take the power it needs from the charger.

It cannot take more than it needs so the battery cannot be overcharged. You will also notice that the charger is cool, not warm like it is when charging normally.

This info is based on using official Nokia chargers and batteries. Third party products may perform differently.

Re: Overcharging decreases battery life?

acoording to your subjet' overcharging decrease battery life?

The answer is YES
I am 100% sure that overcharging decrease any type of rechargeable battery life.

But don't expect overcharging in present phones if your battery is charged within your phone and charger supplied with it unless circuit in your phone or charger has fualty.

Correct, although it is wise to let your battery run very low once in a while as a full charge helps to maintain peak performance.

Re: Overcharging decreases battery life?

what i meant is your phone will not charge your battery more than enough as psychomania said above.

But when you use third party charger or take out battery and charge it somewhere other than your phone, there may be overcharging which will shorten battery life.

Should i edit my last post if your question starts somewhat like "does battery get overcharge and is it harmful to it?"..........?

Thanks

[ Edited ]

pudu, please don't confuse the topic,

@romperompe - you have nothing at all to worry about as long as you stick to Nokia accessories.

A third party charger won't overcharge (they can undercharge in some circumstances) the battery, but may not cool down like nokia chargers do. The phone should cool down as normal.

The performance of 3rd party batteries is always an issue. The phone shouldn't overcharge them but you can never be 100% sure how the batteries are performing. Generally if it's the same voltage and mah rating it should be ok.

-- pudu please dont' confuse....

Of course i am not confused with the topic

in my life i've never heard overcharging battery will elongate battery life,

Sticking to the point published by the first poster 'will overcharging decrease battery life?'

Wonder if you can still say NO

By saying 'will not charge battery more than enough' i meant 'will not overcharge' and is only repeatation of your post(sorry for my bad english)

Please- last 2 lines of my first post; battery will not overcharge if there is no fualty in circuit.

I am not specialist in such particular field but i know (already experienced) that overcharge and deep discharge will surely shorten life of a battery

Re: Overcharging decreases battery life?

pudu, no offence but I think it's your English that confuses the topic.

Lets just leave at that as this topic has been answered correctly and in detail.

Re: Overcharging decreases battery life?

;romperompe; this a type of misunderstanding, to clear up our confussions,
few clarifications, cause' this may be my last post on this thhread/post

1. Overcharging decreases battery life.

2. Your phone will not overcharge its battery unless there is fualty in circuit, even if you plug in charger 24x7(its a wastage of energy)

From the above point, i thought your were asking fo no.1 but finally i came to know that you want answer for no.2 or else.

I hope its clear now.

This is a forum for all so will be keep on helping each other in the days to come.

Re: Overcharging decreases battery life?

Overcharging may decrease battery life, but since new devices dont overcharge, there is no chance of decrease!
And obviously you should have read the problem and not just the subject'overcharging decreases battery life'.
Anyway,peace.
