On my old 6085 I want to copy my contacts from phone memory to the sim card so that I can easily move the contacts to another phone if the 6085 dies. When I select "copy contacts" in the "contacts" main menu I get a "SIM card memory protected message". The message then goes away and I don't get asked for any code and the phone reverts to the "contacts" main menu. What do I need to do to copy the contacts to the SIM card.

Since your phone is an earlier model, to check for updates, you need to download PC Suite.

However, the thread you directed me to says that a software update fixes the problem.

Nokia Suite software tells me that my phone has the latest version V 04.22 of the software. The Nokia download website also doesn't show any software updates for the 6085

you have the latest update for your phone that is possible, therefore your only options are to re-install the current firmware thru Nokia Suite, or restore the phone to factory settings. Failing that, you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care for them to inspect: http://nokia.com/support

I tried the restory factory settings and that didn't work.

I have tried to use nokia suite to reinstall the firmware on the phone but there is no reinstall link under the software updates menu as described in the nokia suite help.

Nokia Suite will prompt you that you have the latest software for the phone. On the paragraph that says it, you can see the word "reinstall" highligted. Click on it to reinstall the software

See if going to the "settings- security settings - Security level - set it to none" changes anything
