Is there a trusted stopwatch application for the 6220 classic? It looks quite an omission to me, coming from the 6230.

I use this one:

I have set the shortcut to the number 2 ...if pressed for a second will launch the stopwatch application. this could be done with the application called Phone shortcuts (its a symbian app). Very handy.

You can also try "BestTimer" (you'll find it through google). It's not free but it also includes a countdown timer also absent from S60.

It's a java type, but works well. There are a lot of more stopwatch out there but this is a free one ....so u don't need to search for crack .
