Hi
I have managed to damage my LCD screen on my phone but have realised that my numbers are all saved on the phone and not on the sim.
Can someone give me step-by-step advice on how to retrieve my contacts without being able to view the screen?
Desperately need to get them back.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
To copy the Contacts to the Sim Card, you can try this:
1.) Restart the handset,(So that you would be on the Standby Screen)
2.) Press Menu, you would find Messages 1st, then would be Contacts.
3.) Press the Middle key, so that the Contacts will be opened,
4.) Now the first option would be 1.)Names, 2.)Synchronise, 3) Settings, 4.)Groups, 5.) Speed Dials, 6.)Service Numbers
7.) Delete Contacts, 8.) Move Contacts, 9.)Copy Contacts
5.) This is where you need to be careful, cos when the contacts is opened, Names would be highlighted. So scroll down 8 times, then Copy Contacts would be highlighted.
6.) The first option would be From Phone to Sim Card & Sim Card to Phone
7.) Press the middle key, so that the "From phone to Sim Card" is opened.
8.) It will give prompt "Copy Contacts = Yes (Middle Key) & No (Right Selection Key).
9.) Select the key according to copy the contacts to the Sim Card.
10.) Now wait for a few minutes as you would not be able to know how much time it would take to copy the contacts (depending on the number of contacts & the available space in the Sim Card.

I seem to be missing something as when I follow the instructions I end up making a call... I press the menu option and then press down for contacts. From memory about the phone if I scroll down 8 times I get the person who is 8th in my address book. What bit am I not doing correctly so I can get to the copy contacts screen?
Thanks for your help so far and sorry I seem to be missing something..

Hi,
Was your 6280 Menu view in Grid or List ? Try scrolling 7 times, if you are scrolling 8 times & you are able to make a call, then you scrolling to the Names option. So try scrolling 7 times & check...

The problem is that not all 6280s may have the same things in the same place in the menus - sometimes operator-variant models may be different to standard Nokia, and there have been occasions where software updates add features, which can mean differences in the menus structures.
The best option is to connect to PC via USB cable, then use PC Suite to backup the phone - this backup will be restorable back to most Nokia models.
