Hai friends,my phone asha 311 hangs very frequently,

It hangs very frequently when i close few apps by pressing end button,the phone becomes unresponse,so each and every time i need to open the phone's back cover and remove its battery and put it back again and the restart it.

It restarts by itself when we use the phone as a modem(3G mode)(already posted in my previous post.)

And the main irritating problem is that "THE DEVICE LOCKS BY ITSELF WHEN WE ARE USING THE PHONE".even now when i am typing this message it got 3 times locked ! ! ! (give a try your self and check it out:-))

Before posting this i took my phone to NCC,they flashed my phone and returned me and then i showed this key lock functionality and hanging problem ,they dont have any answer except saying that "THIS MIGHT BE SOLVED IN NEXT UPDATE SIR". ! :-| what about till then ? ? ? ?

There are few more bugs which are already posted by other friends.But my request to NOKIA DEVELOPER TEAM is that "TO IMPROVE THE PHONE'S STABILITY".:-)

hi mate,

have you checked if there are any firmware updates avaialble for your phone via Nokia Suite on your PC? if there are any, please update to the latest version offered. if there isn't any, then try Reinstalling the current firmware thru Nokia Suite. failing that, try Restoring your phone to factory settings.

Failing the above, appears you need to take your phone back to your local Nokia Care: http://nokia.com/support and persist with them on the issue, even if you do have to take it back a few times.

thanks for your reply. Almost i took my phone 5 times to NCC,i even askd for device replacement but they were saying that its inbuilt software problem and faced by all asha 311users , their FREE advice is to wait til next update ! Till then i am forced to use this unbaked phone made by NOKIA.

What do you normally do after the phone is re-flashed by them? Do you restore from an existing backup? If you do, please try again by not restoring any backup as backup is known to keep all settings and any minor problems that it might have earlier.

Next, can you try using your phone after deleting the temporary files from the memory card? If you explore your memory card, you'll find a folder called temp and a few other hidden folders. Just close your eyes and delete them.
That seemed to have worked for me. Not even a single freeze since around a month. And i suspect those temporary files did the work

Keylock doesn't affects me much. Its just maybe once in a day. Don't know why but my phone is super stable these days..
Seriously no freezing which used to happen almost every hour earlier. Opening/closing opera mini and it used to freeze. Open messages and took it forever, open gallery and frozen..
Something happened to it and its better now =D

Might be now i am facing the trouble with my phone, which u faced much earlier and after they return my phone i just back up only messages and contacts(i cant type all of them again ).

As you said,might be memory card is making all these,so i vl give a try by formatting my sd card.hope this will solve the issue.

Truly saying key lock functionality is irritating.

I will follow this and post the resul ASAP.

Well about the backup of messages, its known bug that the backup also backs up all the settings and some other user data, besides the backup of messages. So in some cases its possible that the problem will be backed up and restored back when you restore them.

If it still happens to be problematic for you, just reset to factory and don't restore the backup. Keep your messages safe on your pc, and move your contacts to the sim or sync them with your Google account

I ended up with not restoring anything from the old backup. Reflashed the phone, moved the important messages to the phone via Nokia Suite, and never bothered to do anything with the backups. Deleted all temporary files from the memory card and the phone has been running normal since then

About all the problems, I'm very sure that the software development is being done in India or the developers are Indians. ROMs cooked properly in Finland or wherever they used to cook them earlier weren't this buggy. The development is made to work but the coding isn't correctly done which leaves hundreds of bugs

Just now coming from NCC,they took my phone and said that they will keep it under their observation for 2 or 3 days and then return me(As i repeatedly reported the same problem regarding my phone) ! hope atleast a new update gets released in the mean time and i get my phone with new version

my nokia 311 hanging everyday and i have to reinstal every night for tomorow use, my firmware also latest. now i didnt make backup restore or any extra memory card, still the problem continue. nokia care will not do anything or they dont know what to do, they also saying "wait for new firmware". and when it will come????

Have you tried to format your phone? Please note that all of your files will be deleted. So before you do this, you need to back up your important data using the Nokia Suite.

You can use the link to download the Nokia Suite: www.nokia.com/nokiasuite

1. Connect the phone you want to back up to your computer with a USB cable. On your phone, select Nokia Suite (or PC Suite) and then select OK.

2. In Nokia Suite, click Tools then Backup. Nokia Suite shows you a list of the content types that you can back up and prepares a list of information that can be backed up.

3. Select the information that you want to back up. If you want to change where the backup file is saved, click Browse and choose another location. If you have a lot of music, photos or videos on your phone, including them in the backup will cause the backup process to be slower.

4. Click Start to begin backing up. Do not disconnect or switch off your phone during the backup. If you need to stop the backup, click Stop. Nokia Suite will reach a safe stop point and will then stop the backup.

5. Click Finish to close the window after the backup is complete.

Tried every thing possible,But no satisfactory result.The frequency of hanging reduced but still hangs(previously 4 times a day but after resetting the phone, it hangs minimum of 2 times a day).Though after few days the problem repeats ! Don't know why it restarts unnecessarily ! Most irritating problem of "Nokia asha 311".

Please get these issues SOLVED in next update along with copy paste and brightness option ! Eagerly waiting for that !

i tried all and im not a noob to update firmwares!! (had a nokia c6-01)

and why i need to " share this idea to the proper department. You may contact them through here: https://ideasproject.com " If the option to copy and paste, adjust brightness should be mandatory and more in this phone that is a "smartphone" like the web of nokia say...
