Nokia 6230i Texting a reply then characters went haywire

I must have done something wrong while replying to a text message, I was entering a phone number using abc2 entry (Should have used the numbers to enter them but forgot about the option)  when for some reason the characters I was entering changed. The letter M appeared as an underlined * and subsequent entries did not relate to the keys entered. after 5 or so letters the ? appeared and SPELL was shown on the bottom of the screen as what I had typed beared no relation to what the screen showed!

I must have altered a setting somewhere and would like to find out how to get back to normal text!

Any suggestions

Thanks

Alan.

Hi Alan,

I've been trying to replicate what you are experiencing. First I thought it could be the language setting but then that would mean the language would change for all the menus as well. There is nothing else I can think off that is accessible through the menus. Have you tried rebooting the phone yet? If not, turn off the phone, the remove the battery and leave the battery out for a minute or so before trying again.

It seems that you have activated the dictionary. To solve this go to-

Create message-options-dictionary/prediction-off.

Or you can press # key 2 times rapidly to deactivate it

:smileyhappy:

Thanks for the great help, it was the predictive dictionary. Don't know how I did it but more importantly now know how to fix it next time I make the same mistake!

You may have switched it on by same way- pressing the # key 2 times rapidly. :-)
