Nokia 8800 Sirocco: Fake or Real?

[ Edited ]
Hi. I just bought Nokia 8800 Siricco Edition from the internet on one of the internet auctions. It's says that it is a full back brand new. When I received it I realize, that the box is from the regular Nokia 8800 with those old batteries(BL-5X), and it's seems to me that the whole package doesn't belong to 8800 Sirocco. I checked couple websites and found out that the package I got is the one for Nokia 8801 (american version of 8800, even cheaper than 8800). The warranty information and all the manuals was for 8801. The contents of the package was for 8801 too (no bluetooth headset, no leather case, no cloth for wiping + 2 BL-5X batteries). But the phone itself looks like 8800 sirocco. I went to the menu folder and tried to take a picture, but it shows that the resolution I can set goes only up to 800x600 (not 1600x1200). So my qestion is what is the actual difference between this phones (8800 and Sirocco)? Mine looks exactly like Sirocco. May be there is a different menu options or it's says somewhere on the phone that is a "sirocco edition"? I checked the model number on the back of the phone and it's says that is a "Nokia 8800d. Type: Rm-13". Does it's says the same on the Sirocco edition phones? And is there any way to find out that this phone is not fake by the serial?
Thank you!

Re: Nokia 8800 Sirocco: Fake or Real?

8800d is the Sirocco.

RM-13 is the standard 8800.

Post the full output from *#0000# and product code from sticker under the battery.

Never post IMEI/Serial number on a open forum.

I think you have a Fake, Sirocco is RM-165.

Re: Nokia 8800 Sirocco: Fake or Real?

The sales package contents on Nokia UK site says:
* Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition phone
* 2 x Nokia Battery BP-6X
* Nokia Compact Charger AC-3
* Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-801
* Nokia Headset HS-15
* Nokia Desk Stand DT-16
* Nokia Carrying Pouch CP-104
* Suede cleaning cloth
If you did not receive all of these then probably you got a fake.
The box is sealed with a Nokia hologram.

Re: Nokia 8800 Sirocco: Fake or Real?

According to the given IMEI, zou have a Nokia 8800 Special Edition. It is possible that they changed its case to an original Nokia 8800d (Sirocco) case. You can find a lot of similar stuff on the e-bay.

Well, it is not a Sirocco phonel however, the original 8800 is a good phone. It depends how much you have paid for it.

Provided the "Sirocoo" was a typo, that looks genuine enough.

BTW, you should never post unique identifiers such as your IMEI number.

Re: Nokia 8800 Sirocco: Fake or Real?

The handset in question is a good old GB shipped 8800. Just the palin one. It sounds as if they have put different covers on it to sell you something false.

See if you can get it back to them if you don't want it, but I guess it depends how much you paid for it.
