I use Nokia Asha 305, trying to install a good Video player like VLC or quick time unable to... Please advise what video player can be installed on this device and what operating system does it run ? Is it symbian ....? Suggest a good video player to play mp4  video files. The inbuilt player Is not capable of playing all types 3 gp , Mp4 or AVI files!!

P.S Forgive me if  I sound blunt, I am new to nokia smart phone

The video player on the device is the one that is part of the phone operating system, which is Nokia Series 40. Nokia Asha 305 media player supports the following video formats: 3GPP formats (H.263), ASF, AVI, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, VC-1, WMV. Unfortunately VLC is not available for Nokia phones, and at the moment there is alternative video player you could install on the device.

We would advise you to approach this issue from another angle, and transcode your video files to the supported file formats. This is because "normal" video files are usually optimised to be viewed on a monitor or a tv. There are many different applications available both for Mac and PC, just search online for "video transcoder".

im sorry to say but nokia 305 asha does not supports AVI, MP4 nor WMV it plays the sound but not the video. So what do we have left now to try. After a thorough research I am planning to write a blog on this, so that people know what is in store for them

Hello friends, Here just I want to help u from facing this problem,   

I am playing High quality video in my asha 305 phone Through Converted video.

U have to just do one thing install Total video converter in your PC and select convection format as PSP Mpeg4

I m sure the this format playing good quality videos in ur phone.

1. download any video converter software

2. convert profile SONY PSP MPEG-4 (*.MP4)

3. VIDEO SIZE 368X208

4. VIDEO BITRATE -512 ( FOR HIGH RES.) CHANGE FOR LOWER RESOLUTION VIDEOS

5.VIDEO FRAMRATE-14.985

It can play 3gp and mp4 but i prefer mp4 format beacuse the quality of sound and video is much better I also have nokia asha 305 and i play high quality videos by converting through any video converter avc it's free and u can convert mp3 files too. I convert in:  

VIDEO OPTIONS

Codec:mpeg4

Frame size:320x240

Framerate:20

Bitrate:512

Encode pass:2

AUDIO OPTIONS

Audio codec:aac

Audio bitrate:128

Sample rate:44100

Audio channel:2

These settings are the best for sound and video quality too.

If u want full screen then what u have to do is:

1. first open the avc 

2.click on (Edit) in the topmost bar

3.click on (Options..)

4.then click on (Video) 

5.after that go on (Video Resize) and unmark all (Fit to Width) and (Fit to Height)

6.Enjoy full size video on your asha 305 smartphone

I use Youtube Video Downloader to download and convert videos on my 311, but I'm sure the videos will play too in 305, just hit the video type as mp4, it'll play fine, crisp, and perfect.
