Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

Hello there , I have a question : if you could clear this up for me - how can I transfer my text messages from Nokia SUITE to Nokia Asha 306 in their exact order? I know this could be done, but I don't know how. Otherwise, why did technology evolve so fast if it couldn't do this? IN my computer, in Nokia Suite, the text messages appear in their order (according to time, sender, date etc) but I don't know how to transfer all these texts in Nokia 306. I have this phone which is brand new - cannot save my texts. THANKS in advance !

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

You cannot re-sync the messages back to the phones. They can only be synced off the phones to Nokia Suite.
So, you have no solution to do that. Keep them in your PC and save the storage on your phone.

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

Heya ! Are you sure that I cannot transfer anything from my messages into Nokia Asha 306 / 305? The thing is that at present time I've got a Nokia 2700 classic and I know I want to keep my messages in every phone I will be buyign from now on. At present time, I have a bluetooth, data cable and Nokia Suite, I have all my messages in my nokia suite on the computer (they appear as conversations). Like I said, there must be a possibility to do that, but I don't know why. I am willing to risk my phone's space as long as I have stored in my phne all my messages - they are VITAL for me to be kept with me while I use my phone. I know I can transfer any other data like ( Contacts or Notes) but what about the messages? How will they appear in a new phone? Is there a possibility to make personalized folder messages in Nokia asha 306? Thanks, that's all I need. Any suggestions?!

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

As far as Nokia Suite is concerned, there's no way to sync the messages back to a phone.
But if you still have your 2700 classic with you, the task should be easy.Check that you have the option of Phone Switch/Copy Data on your 2700. It should be there in Menu> Settings> Sync and Backup. If its there, you can easily use the Copy From This function to send all the data (or just messages) to your new phone.
Just tried this by syncing SMS'es from my C1 to 311 and it worked like it should. Except that the sent/received date will be changed to that of the time when the copying was initiated.

You can't Sync but surely be able to get the messages back on to the device from the Nokia suite...

Connect the phone to PC and open Nokia Suite -->Messaging .. First click on the 'Inbox' where the synced messages appear.. Select All messages in the Middle column (multiple selection by first clicking on any one message and then with Ctrl+A) Then Drag-and-Drop them to the 'Inbox' folder next to the Phone icon at the bottom.. Similarly select all messages in 'Sent' folder at the top and drop them to 'Sent' folder at the bottom ...

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

Okay farby you have a good answer.. I never tried dragging and dropping as i never expected it to work that way.
But this thing didn't worked (as expected) for me. Being the messages are in conversation view on the Nokia Suite, there's no separate Inbox and Sent folder. So, if i drag-drop a conversation to the inbox of the phone, it does work but misses the order and difference between sent/received. All received ones move to the top and Sent ones to the bottom of conversation.
Would be thankful if you can help me around this too. My messages are locked on the PC since the last software flashing was done :smileysad:

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

Hello, In fact I'm having the same problem - with the drag and drop. I know how to do this, but truth is I CANNOT QUITE UNDERSTAND how I can copy all my conversations in the conversations folder of Nokia Asha 305 (or any other S40 series  model), because I kept trying and they are shown in a total mess in the new phone (fact is I tried to copy from a Nokia 2700 classic to a Nokia C2-02 at first). I don't have a Nokia asha 306/305 yet but I am actually planning to buy one of the phones with S40 series OS. How can I still have my messages transferred in the new phone? It gets on my nerves that I have all my messages in my computer, they are all safe and I have a backup for all contacts and text messages - but when it comes to transferring .... I don;t want to transfer them in INBOX or OUTBOX - I just wanted to know if I can transfer tthem in their exact order (as per sender and date for example) in the CONVERSATIONS tab. Thanks in advance again. You people are definitely more aware of what I'm saying than I am. But first, are you picturing in your mind what I'm trying to explain? I am not sure if I'm accurate :smileyhappy:.

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

The thing with the order and date is killing ME. Why in the world did Nokia make a Nokia Suite if it couldn't copy the messages like they are in the computer - onto the phone?? Hmmm...I wonder....what to do? You can imagine that I wouldn't like my messages to be in dis-order in my new phone - I need them with me, to be able to locate them easily on any phone , not to wade through them to search for one.

Did you try transferring them to Inbox and Sent folders and then checked in Conversation Mode on your phone whether they get arranged automatically ?

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

Guess what farby, i was living with a pretty older Nokia Suite on my desktop. So it didn't include those Inbox and Sent folders. Switched to my laptop and there lies the latest version. Tried it there and it kinda worked here's what i got:

Transferring individually as inbox and then sent isn't a good idea as the phone doesn't bothers to reorder them instead keeps all received at top and the sent on the bottom (or the opposite if sent were first copied).

The better option is copying the whole conversation. It copies the sent and received messages exactly according to the date/time and keeps the conversation intact. Yes, it didn't worked in the older version but it worked with this latest version of Suite.
But the only problem now is that it copies in the reverse order. So that means the oldest messages of the conversation come at the bottom instead of being at the top. This thing works good for many of the devices (like my C1) which show conversation with newest on top, but Asha Touch series is different. Newest appear up at the bottom.

I'm gonna try out with latest beta version of Nokia Suite if its already sorted out in that :smileyhappy:. Else maybe the bug should be filed.
And kudos to you, farby. You were really helpful man. I can even stay with the conversation in reversed order as long as its possible to read. But, know Nokia Devs will be kind enough to sort this out :smileyhappy:

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

@mejo30: So that means you'll get the conversation to your phone, but the only issue will be that the messages will be reverse ordered. This however can be sorted in a newer update of Suite.

About personalized folders, there are none in Asha Touch Series. You only have an additional Archive folder where the messages can be moved. Don't know about the 205.

Yes. Did it. Like I said, they appear in a total mess. How did you say I can try to transfer them as conversations? With a newer Nokia Suite, or how else?....

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

Hello. I need to follow you : so with a new version of Nokia Suite the conversation appears intact? that means the newest message appears at the top? Hey that's good if it is like that. Same goes for Nokia Asha 306/305? With the cnversation transfer issue?

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

So I can get my conversation into my phone but can I get it in the Conversations Tab? I mean...to be able to transfer it as an actual conversation from the computer to the phone...not just separate messages....

Thanks really for the help. Been trying to keep up :smileyhappy:

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

Hm....where and how will the Conversations appear, then? I am not very eager to test things on my phone or computer (NOkia Suite) because I'm afraid not to lose my data (in this case - the sms messages).

Can you please help me with telling me what kind of phones provide this option to be able to transfer messages from one device to another in personalized folders or in Conversations? In case of Asha 306/305 will the conversations be transfered under the appropriate tab, or will they be imported in dis-order ?.... I really got your point earlier but I need to know which of the latest models can save all my messages in Conversations and NOT in Inbox/outbox. thanks.

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

Just as i already mentioned. Transferring the messages to your phone via latest Nokia Suite will copy them exactly as conversations.
But the only issue you'll face is the conversation will be reversed i.e messages will be read as newer at top rather than being newer at bottom.

Re: Nokia Asha 306 Conversations

@

  • Do you own a nokia 311 or a Nokia 302 Asha? Is there any difference between Asha 302 and Asha 311 with regards to conversations? I am eager to buy a Nokia 302 or Asha 311 but the only issue I had was with messages/conversations. Is Nokia Asha a good choice (no matter the model)? Well....It's NO BIG DEAL if I have the conversations reversed : it's only fair to have new ones at the top, to see the more recent ones. The thing is that I need them to look as conversations not as separate messages. Will this be possible? Somthing like in the attachment??....
