sirocco
V 03.51

(Phone 2)

Re: REAL or FAKE Nokia 8800 Sirocco Black

Phone 1 sounds real, my first sirocco had that firmware version and the date and RM number look correct.

My current sirroco says:

Nokia 8800 Sirocco
V 04.10
21-12-06
RM-165
(c) Nokia

Phone 2 looks like a fake, or it's not an 8800 sirocco. If it's not a fake then i'm guessing it could the the original 8800 black.

Re: REAL or FAKE Nokia 8800 Sirocco Black

It's not a sirocco, it's an original nokia 8800. It was released about a year before the sirocco and has less memory, poor battery performance and a poor camera.

Looks like a genuine 8800, just not a sirocco.

Is this a real Nokia 8800 Sirocco? How can you tell it isn't?

The 8800 and the 8800 sirocco look different. The sirocco's thumb rest is rounded, the other is more squared. They also look different when open.

The phone in your photo is a standard 8800. If it's firmware is saying that it's a sirocco then it has either been modified/hacked in some way or it's a good looking fake.

This is a sirocco:

This is a standard (old) 8800:

If you have any doubts, call Nokia Care or go to a service point - they can perform a warranty check on your IMEI number and tell you if it is a genuine Nokia product.

Hey, do you know anything about the regular 8800? Chinese also make copies of these, so how can I know? What should it say when I press *#0000#??

Re: REAL or FAKE Nokia 8800 Sirocco Black

Phone2 is fake because phone2 indicates NMP an the RM number is missing 1 number.

Re: REAL or FAKE Nokia 8800 Sirocco Black

i got the same question, it seems like all the concerns are about siroccos , what about 8800, is there anything specific that we have to know to be able to understand if it is a fake or not??

Re: REAL or FAKE Nokia 8800 Sirocco Black

Anything that looks different than presented on the Nokia Web Site (incl. Tech Specs) is, most probably, a fake or a phone tuned by hand.
