nokia 2730.. some doubts

[ Edited ]

1) I can't use applications which use internet. That has been problem with some people. Any solution for that?

2) the screen of my phone is broken. I went to a nokia care center to get my phone software reinstalled because i am not satisfied with the performance. They refused to do it, saying  that since there is physical damage, the phone won't be able to handle it. I didn't understand the logic behind updating the software and the broken screen!

One more thing. I was not satisfied with the sound of my phone. I went to a nokia care, they said that the speaker was broken. i went to another center, the guy just cleaned the surface and the sound was perfect. Thats why they lost my trust, and i want to know the relation b/w the screen and the software!

and updating phone software on the website doesn't have the option for 2730.

3) The music player of my phone responds very slow. When i change the song, it takes about 4-5 seconds to find and play the next song, sometimes hangs during the process. 1-2 times it has worked perfectly, but otherwise its the same. since months. Would reinstalling the software help? or any other solution?

Re: nokia 2730.. some doubts

1. Do you have an active Data plan fro your operator ? Do you get any message when you try using those ?

2. You mean, you are using the phone with a broken screen. Though the issues are not directly related, What if you tell them to replace the Screen and install the firmware ? ...and did you get the same answer from the other Care point too?

3. Yes, the problem may get resolved.

They are asking for Rs 700 for changing the front panel, so problems. I just want to get the software reinstalled before getting it changed. I hope you understand :smileyvery-happy:

Re: nokia 2730.. some doubts

Hi, make sure u have proper web settings on ur phone. Go to 'configuration' and select defaul settings and access points. Activate the settings for all applications (important).

Regarding slow response time, its due to low RAM and slow processor. The phone usually gets slower after some days due to that and also because of the memory card u have. It gets fragmented over time!
Thanks

Re: nokia 2730.. some doubts

Settings are perfect. Activated for all applications. Will manual settings help?

and this seems a good reason. So is there any way of de-fragmenting the card?

Re: nokia 2730.. some doubts

If the operator's setting didn't solve, may be manual won't do. But why not try for once if you can? Create 'web' and 'access point' settings and activate them. Make sure ur apps' ''application access>communication>connectivity/network access" are set to 'allowed'. You'll find it in 'options' when u select the app.
You can also try using different operator (just incase u hv network problem). If it doesn't solve, reinstall firmware from either way..
1. nokia care or
2. your PC Suite software updater or
3. OTA.

Memory card: Yes, sure you can run checkdisk, defragment using windows. Select mass storage and do it from 'My computer>manage>defragmenter'
BUT this doesn't solve much. I've tried. Instead backup ur data and format ur card [Don't do quick format]. Good luck!

Re: nokia 2730.. some doubts

my phone is not supported for updates. I also checked on the nokia website. So, would going to nokia care be my only option?

Re: nokia 2730.. some doubts

What is the current version?
Yes, you can go to Nokia Care and ask them to reinstall if they have new version or just the last and final version or flash it citing your problem!

Re: nokia 2730.. some doubts

Thats the whole point. Nokia care guys want me to pay money and get my screen changed, and i don't want that. Its just a crack. I just want to get the firmware re installed. If its something legitimate, then I don't mind. Otherwise I'll just try to complain to a higher authority.
All I want to know now is if cracked screen might hinder the firmware re installation or not.

Re: nokia 2730.. some doubts

There is no relation between both. By the way if your problem is solved, there need not require a reinstall of firmware. You can raise ur issue here if you want to know about company services:
