when i checked for updates, says there isn't any

If Update is not available.. re-install the Firmware and see..

BTW, is the Bluetooth getting activated ? Just curious ...

If no difference, you may have to visit Nokia Care to get the phone inspected for any Hardware failure ..

I don't have my sim card in this phone because the contract run out and I don't have it.
it wont let me reinstall it with Nokia Suite because of this

This happened to me after last software update.

 

* no radio stations

* cant tune

 

Reinstalled software, no success.

 

There seems to be earlier threads, in 2010, 2011, but no apparent solution.
