This is very very annoying and expensive for me. Nokia I got this phone because of Wi-Fi. Where is the solution to this issue?
nothing works to correct the "invalid Server Name" error, and I have tried everything i can think of, and all suggestions on this thread. This is unacceptable. I can't even connect using the Ovi application, I get the same error.

Any Solution yet?

Hi,
I am using v50 and facing the same "Invalid Server Name" issue.
I have tried all the solutions given in this post but none of them works for me ....
I think Nokia should provide solution for this or please let me a way by with I can revert back to the previous version of firmware.
Thanks

hi,
please remember that there are routers that aren't configured using DHCP which means that you are the one to provide your own IP ADDRESS and DNS SERVER which should be given by your network administrator, however if this is not the case, all you have to do is to delete all your saved access points and add a new one, if you are not sure on the WLAN Settings just put in Open Network that's the basic configuration.
to setup:
go to Settings > Connectivity > Destination > Access Point. click options and add new access point. after adding the new access point click on it, press edit, click options then advance configuration press ipv4 you should put there your own IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and your DNS Server.
then your done. if you still have any problems with your wifi then i beleived that it already has something to do with the router configuration itself. ![]()

Just put Open DNS values
it will solve the problem
Go to Setting > Destination > Intrenet > wireless access point name > edit > advanced setting > DNS server > Change from Automatic to these settings
Primary DNS Server 208.67.222.222 Secondary DNS Server 208.67.220.220
There you go ,you can use your home wifi

Nope, the DNS trick also didn't work. And the router can't possibly be the problem all of a sudden, as the only thing that has changed is the firmware.
C'mon you Nokia guys, I know you're reading this, and you know you need to come up with a real fix. No more workarounds please. Otherwise people will turn to phones that do work, and actually work better after a software update.
It's time for Nokia to show its best side and give real solutions and care to its customers.

This is a users forum, so don't expect Nokia guys here. It's advised to reset the device after a firmware update. Dial *#7370# 12345 reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings.

Just posted this on another thread...
It worked for me. Worth a try for you...
I tried to connect to my wifi for 2 days straight until I found the solve on another site.
I deleted all the wifi connections and went into my router and turned off the qos function. (I'm a complete computer dummy but I managed to do it", left all my wifi settings on the N8 blank and set to automatic and it automatically connected straight up. Has been working for the last week no probs.
Go into your computer DOS.
1
tart
2:Run
3:telnet 192.168.1.254 (or whatever your router address is) I have a Thomson router.
Enter.
User:Administrator
Password:depends on your software, try without password, if it dosn’t connect, use modem access code under your router
:wireless qos config mode=disabled
enter
:saveall
enter
Reboot your router and try to connect.
It worked for me....

Leaving your router unprotected is not really a good idea.

If you want to connect to public networks such as WIFI hotspots, you should really set settings such as IP address, DNS, Gateway, etc... to be configured/obtained automatically instead of having them in static mode...
