Lumia 800 Voice to text problem

i am using an up to date lumia 800 (my third one, dont ask)
trying to get her to read out my incoming txt messages.

in settings > speach> i have enables all the options and selected Bluetooth and headsets

I am using it with the Nokia hf-510 and the Monster purity headphones (not at the same time)
either way, its not working. i have never recieved a voice option.

any help welcome.
