Hi, I've just recently updated to the latest 8773 update and can now see the tetthering option available, only trouble is it won't activate and instead I get a message stating "Connection not shared - There's no mobile connection to share at the moment. Check your mobile settings and signal, and try again."
I've done a full reset just in case but no luck at all and the issue persists!
Please help ![]()
Thanks

Hi Rainier,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.
Do you have an active data plan with your provider? Are you able to access the internet from your phone? If so and you can confirm you have an active data plan and are able to use the data services on your device then it could be your network provider may not support or allow tethering so this is something you may wish to check with them.
If you can also confirm that settings>mobile network>data connection-'ON' and you are able to use your data connection perfectly on your device then a visit to your local Nokia care point maybe necessary. You can find your closest care point on the below link:
http://www.nokia.com/global/support/locations/
But first please make sure you data connection is working and active and that your network provider allows the tethering service.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Raoul_Duke,
I've been looking for a solution for this problem but I can't manage to find any useful information.
I have the "Connection Not Shared" problem with my Lumia 800. I have a unlimited data plan, my operator does allow tethering (in fact, I have no problems tethering with the same SIM card on an iPhone 4) and I can perfectly browse the web on the Lumia.
Every time I try to tether, the "Connection Not Shared" problem raises.
My Lumia is an Operator Unlocked Phone that I bought from Orange UK and that I'm using with a TMN (from Portugal) SIM card. Everything works fine, except the tethering, that seems to happen to lots of Orange clients.
Any help on this?
This my 17th Nokia (I started with the 5110, and not counting other family members phones), so I'm a loyal costumer, but I must confess this is breaking me...
Regards,
Pedro

Hi plvieira,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum,
Please use the network Setup app to correctly setup the network connections with your carrier. You will find the app in the Nokia Collection on Marketplace. Remove any settings you added to Settings/Mobile network>add apn before using the app.

Hi Kosh,
Thank you for your reply. I've had already done that. Anyway, did it again but the problem persists...
Any other suggestion? - What do you think about contacting a nokia representative here in Portugal?
Just to let you know, I've tried my SIM card on another Lumia and the tethering did ok. I really think this is a problem with the Orange firmware, considering what I've been reading on the web about this problem....
Kind regards,
Pedro.

ok, so the solution is this: I just purchased a new lumia 920. from overseas, into australia. the access point names in settings were set up incorrectly.
with telstra the APN was set up as telstra.internet and the internet worked, but wouldnt allow tethering.
simply changing this to one of the other known values (telstra.wap or telstra.iph) allowed tethering to work.
You can get to these settings in the menu under access points.
so if you able to find out what different data names are used on your network, then thatll be your solution. In australia we have http://web(dot)au(dot)ausdroid(dot)net/apns/ which lists all the apns.
so have a search and find ehichever ones for your netowrk. good luck.
