It is possible to use a Lumia 710 and a projector with a "micro usb to vga" cable?

This feature is not supported by the Lumia 710 but yiu can try streaming wirelessly to,your tv using dlna with the Play To app.

has anyone tried this with any success (my thinking is to project a power point to a projector)

Not possible with the 710.
