C3-01 attach thumbnail pic?

I got sent a text by someone today & it had a small thumbnail pic of themselves attached to the message which i thought was cool. I saved her in contacts & the pic is there next to her name. Is this possible to do when i send a text to anyone with my C3 -01 or is this a smartphone function?

This is a multimedia message and yes you can send photos from your phone
