Most probably this issue can be resolved only thru' a Firmware update...so check for availability and update your phone if available. Else, you need to wait till an update is released ...
Had a similar issue on my Nokia X3-00 (Refer this ..)

Dear Nokia C3 software team:
A solution is needed on the "invalid selection" error on a Nokia C3-00
I also have this problem on my Nokia C3. When trying to delete (clean up) the entries in the received calls log I get the error "invalid selection". I have some 10 entries in my log that I am not able to delete. I checked internet and this Nokia discussions forum. However lot of people having this problem I did not find a solution (excuse me if I missed it, please let me know).
(Nokia) Forums telling:
- "Most probably this issue can be resolved only thru a Firnware update .... if not solved wait for a newer version ........
- factory reset
- asign a number of another phone to the name of the entry and call the c3 several times, then able to delete
Performed these 3 without success:
Regarding the software upgrade. Performed it today via Nokia Suite to the latest version V 08.63 dd 25-03-2011 RM614. According Nokia suite with this version (almost two years old) my C3 is up to date. I hoped on 2012 / 2013 version in which this bug is solved.
Is there a newer version with the bug solved? How downloading and updating?
I assume there is a know solution because a lot of persons are having this error.
So dear Nokia, you have received lots of error messages regarding this problem. Please help in solving it.
Kind regards and thanks in advance. C3helpneeded

Hi,
Thanks all 3 for the quick response and the suggestions.
I already updated the firmware, it did no solve the issue. My current version is v 08.63, the version from 25/03/2011. I updated it yesterday and according Nokia suite this firmware version is up to date for my C3-00. So no firmware changes in almost 2 years! On internet there where some blogs with v08.70 and v08.71, might this bug be solved in one of these versions and how can I get the software? I am not able to update it via Nokia suite. Does the new version indeed solve the bug.
Based on suggestion 3, i used another valid simcard. However the "invalid selection" message still occurs when trying to remove an entry from the "received calls" log.
As mentioned in my message, there are a lot of people having this "invalid selection" message and already for several years. To my opinion Nokia must have been able to determine the cause of this errror and provide a resolution for it, e.g. by a small APP removing the entries or by a manual action. So I hope someone from Nokia responds to this message with a resolution (manual, software, ...).
I don't know why it occurred. The cause might be in the order in which entries have been deleted. Contacts deleted first and then deleting the received calls and missed calls log. However I only have entries in the received calls log and not in one of the other logs.
Again, thanks for your suggestions. Other tips and response from Nokia are appreciated.
kind regards, C3helpneeded

Not sure but if you select 'Clear log list' ..then select any of the catagories ..e.g.'Missed Calls' ..Now it takes time to clear the list depending upon no. of entries .. but if you select the 'Back' key before all the entries are cleared and you get 'Mised call list cleared' then you get this issue ...MAY BE ...

Hi,
All tips for a solution did not work, the entries in call log stay unless hard formatting with "factory reset all" or after updating the software.
They are stored somewhere in memory and are not overwritten (cleared) with the hard format.
Does anybody have a software utility with which the entries can be read and cleared, flashed, .....?
Does anybody know the source code, how it is stored, source logic to possibly think of a trick how the entries can be removed.

As the query can't be answered on this Nokia sponsored Forum due to guidelines restrictions..you may get the firmware flashed at Nokia Care .
..But, if its a BUG, it may come up again and again ..and if the reason is just what was mentioned in Message 8 then taking that much care may resolve the issue forever ..
