It's mean we can't upgrade Opera Mini 4 (default) in C3 to Opera Mini 5  via WAP browser! Please help!

Opera 4 is part of the firmware on the C3. It is an integrated application. Opera 5 is a standalone application that you can install for yourself.

WAP browser is not the only way to install an application. If, for some reason you cannot install applications using the browser, use the OVI suite or copy the application JAD and JAR files to the memory card.

Opera 4 and 5 have different hardware requirements, so some phones support Opera 4, some support Opera 5.  Note that while Opera 5.1 works without problems on the C3, the phone is not even listed on the supported models page for Opera 5.

If Nokia decides to include Opera 5 in a firmware upgrade, Opera Mini 5 will be available as a integrated app.

I have some questions about the Opera  web browser: does the browser save any internet cache on the phone? If so, where? I know how to delete my cookies and history but not  the cache. Another question: is there a way to change the browser's icon? I downloaded Opera Mini 5 (do I have to download both files, .jar and .jab?) because there is an ugly key symbol on my icon... oO

In Opera Mini 5.1 there's a related setting: Settings->Advanced->Set saved page folder.

The key symbol means it is an unsigned application. That's why you get a lot of confirm messages when you try to save something, try to connect, etc.

It would be nice to have a nicer icon though, it looks ugly when scaled on the home screen.

You can get the signed version by choosing "Other download options" on m.opera.com (its almost on the bottom of the page), then select "Options for opera mini 5.1: select code-signing certificate" and choose "Dual signed".

Thanks for the hint, this is much better. Now  I can allow Opera to save and read data, initiate connections, etc. It was really annoying to give the phone six confirmations when saving a file...

The strange thing the application icon is still marked with the key icon.

In order to change the icon, you could use WinRAR to open the jar file and replace the i.png

After replace the i.png, the jar file is corrupt on the phone and can't install

I Sent the.jar file from my pc from the link you provided , but now the problem is when i try to install it it ask me for the type of connection (WLAN, My sim package ,Do not ask )

I Press on Search for WLAN and My home Wlan comes Up, I connect and After that the installation stops at like....20 %, The connection type message comes up like 4-5 times.

After that there is a message, Error connecting to the internet.....

Opera Mini's Old Version Work Fine On My C3

But 5.1 has a problem !

When starting Oper it needs to finish it's install connectin to Inet. This is why phone ask's the type of connection. If it asks you several times it means it cannot connect to Inet. Are you able to browse Inet with old browser?

i have found a very tricky way. First download opera 6 from the following link

now go to the following link

here choose code signing certificate for Nokia c6
in the next screen choose all certificate option
then in the next screen choose download opera 6
now opera 6 certified is downloaded
