Well, here we go again.  After I updated my phone to Anna I had to downgrade back to Symbian 3 in order to get QuickOffice Pro to work.  When I updated to Belle the Pro version dissappeared and was replaced with the viewer version.  I reinstalled Pro (the install claimed to have worked) and QuickOffice Pro is now on my phone, but any attempt to actually access a file causes the phone to lock-up requiring that the battery be pulled out to restore.  I am waiting to see what QuickOffice has to say about getting it to work, but was just wondering how installing QuickOffice Pro has worked for others with the C6-01 after the Belle update?  Quite frankly, I am so tired of messing around with the quirky nature of updates and QuickOffice that I am about ready to just get rid of it and hope that Microsoft Office for Belle becomes available as promised.

Bro there is absolutely no compatibility issues with Quick office in Anna and Belle..!!!
I had Quickoffice Pro v7.00 in Anna and I have installed it in Nokia Belle to with no issues of any sort.

OK, I'll uninstall and try again. Just to be sure, you have tried using it, right? Mine installed without problems and it looks fine, it's just when you try to create a new document that it gets all wonky. Thanks.

Nope. I uninstalled QuickOffice Pro, reinstalled (it seemed to install fine), rebooted phone, opened QuickOffice and was able to write and save a test file, but as soon as I tried to open it the phone frooze solid again. I'll wait to see what QuickOffice has to say, but I'm also going to try to see what MS Office for Belle is like. If it's at all usable I think I'll just quite messing with QuickOffice.

Well Quickoffice got back to me and confirmed that it is NOT compatible with Belle. Let's see, the most common Office app on Symbian is.not compatible with a well known update and Nokia is still selling it on their store even after tons of reviews from buyers saying it doesn't work and that they were ripped off. Nokia is history except maybe in India. There are just too many options to have to bother with this lack of execution.

Hey come on bro, look at the screenshots below from my C6-01 running on Belle, I have the Quickoffice Pro v7.00(39) installed and it is working well, like I tried to create file. No bugs at all..!!!

Hi torchaj, that's what I meant when I said that maybe they have a different version in some areas, but here is the cut and paste reply I got from QuickOffice, and if you don't believe me it is easy to check the reviews on the Nokia store which are down to a 2 with tons of people in the EU complaining about it. It may be working on your phone (and there was some Dude claiming it worked on his on another forum until he came back complaining that his phone was locked!:

By the way thanks for offering the file, but I have it - the problem isn't the initial install that goes well, it's what happens afterwards and it doesn't seem to happen to everyone since it hasn't happened to you. Anyhow, thanks for your help I really appreciate it!

after many quik office issue with nokia c7  and firtst anna and now belle its getting rather annoying

quickoffice have at all time been very good and helpful and ready to refund payments i have made to re new attempts to get office working

anyway i had got to a point where on symbian anna one of my c7 had office quick working and other just would not

then along comes bell this week and i again install it on phone to lose both office quick

so i paid office quick 7 dollars with 73 per cent off and thought it had worked but then found on opening wotd files it just closes down each time

so was getting frustrated as spreadsheet is fine

but by accdent i found a workthrough that may help others

ok by using file and scrolling down to file vwanted it wont open word file

by opening up quick office and selecting the files it wontr open

but by using search button on phone it refereshes the document and opens it

and allows full editing so i have to ignore the quick office button and the normal files c e f etc but using search  i can find any doc file i want and open and edit

to add to above i was also able to use same office download link to download onto my second phone so for 7 dollars i am sorty of up and running

ok annying i cant make use of quick office application tab and use things like recent documents but one can still use create new document but one has to wait a few hours for any saved document to appear in the search not sure how long to wait or why it makes one wait but i assure all new word doc tests i have done appeared later time

also sending back to a pc or laptop still opens the file

its odd why it wont open normally but fact is your new wrod docs and old are all there and working by this search application method

i at first had thought all my docs were corrupted or gone permanently

luckily this is not the case

again to reiterate use the search application on your phone and try opening doc from there

and for nokia if you are on here my two c7s will be tha last nokia phones after 10 or more yrs of loyalty to your phones i have had enough

sorry when contracts run out i will be looking at other makers

you cost me too much in time and concern with all your changing of things all the time

eugenie and her team at quick office have been a major help for me in last 2 yrs of nokia muck ups

they at all times have shown how good customer service should be

sending me new direct links

informin me direct of latest software when they had updated last time to fix a past nokia problem

refunding me money when i attemtped timed to try again and did not suceed

i cant think of a finer customer service to think i am in hertfordshire uk and they in usa get back to me without even using thr ticket system i normaly reply on old emails ticket as i see it all same issue ie nokia and office problems when nokia change things again

never a wrod of complaint from them at quick office

courteous and helpful to the last

nokia may be nice idea if rather than just having these forums you actually took notice of people like quick office do

Did any one of you perform a factory reset with data deletion before updating to belle? If not, try it and the reinstall belle. You shouldn't have problems with quick office.

on anna i did hard reset on 2 phones 10 times on belle i did not and dont intend to why should i keep reseting it ? Nokia should leave it alone i purchased a c7 i expected it to remain same all time i had it if i want new features then i expect to buy a new phone
many wil of reset phone and stil had this real problem ie with every nokia update we lose things as said its good bye nokia and may be too to any phone after this contract runs out i stopped watchin tv a7 we have to update often and wil stop phone use its all gettin to much

we should not have to update in first place i was happy with c7 day i got it now i am not i only use phone for my medical notes and navigation on foot i dont make or recieve 5 mins of calls a month yet have to pay £30 a month each phone to give me internet use no one does a primary net package ie i would like to see say 20 mins call 10 texts but unlimited net for what i pay
also we should not lose anything whether we update or dont update as if we dont we also lose support as for ex vodafone wont touch your phone unles you are prepared to update latest software

blitzkid are you sure your quick office is working fine ie have you actually edited and saved word files ??

if your is ok then you are in a minortiy many of us had issues with both anna and now belle and beleive me its not as simple as resetting your phone

and indeedd why should we when we hook up to nokia it tells us to click and update our phone sureyl that means threy do it all for you ie the phone back up and resets and then reloads new software then reloads your data

so why6 shoulfd we have to keep resetting it manually

and indeeed losing more and more stuff in the process each time

i lost 5 apps when symban belle reset my phone ok i caqn get 4 back ok but why shuold i have to?

one with all my blood pressure recrods for last 2 yrs totaly went and i cant get it orking at all

so all my viatal records i trusted to put on an app and now all gone

i dont blame trhose doing the apps i blame nokia why shuols people doing the apps have to spend time ans money redouing there apps to satisfy the tech heads atr nokia who wqant to change things all the time

if that happens then we will have less free apps and prices will go up on those we have

I also face the same problem. Installation went perfectly. When try to open file, it shows error "unable to open" and close automatically.
In addition to the above I lost the following application

These are the BONUSES i got when I updated to Belle.

NOKIA is keeping quiet with the all our comments. Not even have the courtesy to reply.

It was a very wrong decision to update to Belle.
All these applications was working fine with ANNA

Folks I originally posted this problem and was surprised to see the number of responses. It ranges from people saying there's no problem at all to QuickOffice telling me in writting that it is not compatible and the huge number of people in the Nokia store complaining that it won't work. The insanity of this situation became clear when Nokia allows an app that is stated not to be compatible to be sold to unsuspecting buyers in its store, and when I tried to ask QuickOffice for more help it turns out their email address was giving me a bounceback. Every phone manufacturer has problems with a large update, but I have never seen anything like this where problems are not even repeatable since it seems that almost every user is having different problems. I solved the problem as far as it pertains to me. I can't use a phone that has no word processor available for it so I've moved on to a Nexus. It has its own share of problems, but nothing compared to what I'm used to with Nokia. And finding a word processor that works with it is not an issue. I wish you all the best trying to resolve this but in all honesty why beat a dead horse? It's time to move on to a modern operating system.
