this isn't a glitch but a flaw..  by design we are allowed to allocate an image for a contact either whilst viewing the photo on the phone or through ovi. After using ovi to do this, when the caller calls the contact image is very low resolution looking pixellated and not very clear.. however if one selects a photo that's on the phone or micro sd memory and leaves it onboard without deleting, then the image is very high res and clear.  Again it goes back to low res mode and is terrible to look at if the photo is erased from the memory... shouldn't the photo be high res all the time?

any solutions to this? Saving mug shots of contacts just so that it shows up clearer during an incoming call sounds like such an outdated solution for a phone with so much of memory. Without the image saved the image is so blurred!

Its because if you use your phone to attach images to the contact, what it does is create an index, linking the contact to the photo file, and only a thumbnail is attached to the contact. However, if you use Ovi Suite on your PC to add the picture to the contact, the program embeds a copy of the actual photo file in the contact details, thus making the file larger, but the contact picture clearer when it is used as a caller image.
