Welcome to our forum!
Nokia Support Discussions is a global meeting place for Nokia product owners. Here you can discuss Nokia products and Ovi services, ask for assistance from other Nokia users and help others by providing solutions.
This global forum is currently available via a wide selection of Nokia websites, so don't be surprised if you are on the Nokia UK website and people from the US talk about Nokia products that are only available in the USA.
This is mainly a peer-to-peer support forum, and Nokia does not provide direct customer support to all questions via these boards. If you wish to get personal assistance from Nokia customer support by phone or email, please visit the "Contact Us" section of your local Nokia website.
The forum team includes technical experts from Nokia, who monitor their respective areas on the forum. Their main task is to make sure that the right people at Nokia know what is discussed here, but they may also participate in the discussions and publish information from Nokia about the issues discussed here. They are labelled as "Technical Experts" and bear a Nokia logo.
You may also meet people labelled as "Nokia Employees". They are voluntary Nokia employees who want to participate in these discussions, but they are not official support people or Nokia spokesmen. Also a lot of people from many different Nokia departments actively follow these discussions. As a rule, we do not allow Nokia employees to participate here without being open about their identity - so without the "Nokia Employee" logo, which all Nokia employees can apply for.
We have a team of professional moderators who are monitoring the discussions. Their main duty is to oversee that all members play by the guidelines listed below, but they may also post news and information coming from Nokia. They are labelled as "Moderators".
On top of these Nokia roles, all participating Nokia customers have a "rank" that is based on their activity and helpfulness on the forum. These ranks have different names and colors, some also have stars. These ranks are named "New User", "Visitor", "Sage", "Guru" etc. The highest rank that a forum member can currently attain is "Mobile Overlord".
New to Nokia Support Discussions? Please take a minute to read through the community guidelines. Also check out the forum's Help section (link on top of this page).
Just ask. The boards are here for you. If you don’t understand something, there are plenty of registered users and moderators who can help out. Regardless of whether you’re a beginner or an expert, your questions and input are valid and appreciated.
Know the golden rules of posting:
1. Search before you post. If you are looking for an answer to a specific question, there’s a good chance that it has already been posted. First try a search using likely keywords. You can search from the whole forum (select "Community") or from within a certain area (select "Board").
If it looks like the question hasn’t been answered, please start a new topic! (Note that only Nokia personnel can start new topics in the Guidelines and News-sections.)
2. Be specific. Including detailed information - for example your phone model - in your post will help other users notice and understand your question.
3. Stay on topic. The sole purpose of Nokia Support Discussions is to make it possible for Nokia phone owners to help each other with the use of existing Nokia products and services. Please avoid other topics, even if related to Nokia and its products. Discussing any rumours about yet unannounced or possibly upcoming Nokia products is not allowed.
4. Show respect. Please ensure that all of your posts contribute to the supportive atmosphere of the board. "Flaming" or disrespecting other board users is not allowed. For more specific information on what Nokia considers disrespectful or inappropriate, see below.
5. Thank those who help you. Giving kudos, marking solutions accepted and posting thank you replies are ways of showing appreciation.
Act responsibly. Please remember that advice or information posted in a discussion is the personal opinion of the person providing it. If something sounds wrong to you, do not try it. In particular, if any user asks you for personal information, such as an account number, address, password or credit card number, do not provide it – instead, report the user to a moderator.
From time to time, a member of Nokia staff or the Discussions team may request information that is necessary to provide support or to investigate an issue that you have reported. Only give such information to forum members whose username is accompanied by the blue Nokia logo.
Moderators are here to help. The Nokia Support Discussions is a moderated forum. From time to time moderators may participate in discussions, but their primary purpose is to help facilitate the functioning of the boards and assist you in their use.
Your posts appear automatically, but posts that violate the community guidelines may be edited or deleted by a moderator. Repeated and/or serious violation of the guidelines may result in a user being banned from the discussions or even legal action, so please play by the rules.
Examples of discussion no-nos include:
Promotion or spamming: Nokia Support Discussions are intended for problem-solving, not promotion. Please refrain from posting anything that would constitute advertising, junk mail, spam, chain letters, or any other form of unauthorised solicitation. Links to external web sites are permissible where the link provides a direct answer to another user's question and where no other no-nos are commited.
Illegal or offensive posts: Posts that are obscene or pornographic, abusive, inflammatory, illegal, libelous, or otherwise objectionable or injurious are not allowed. Posts that refer to religion, politics, race, nation, gender, or sexual orientation are not allowed.
Harassment (“flaming” ): Personal attacks or harassment ("flaming" ) are not acceptable in the public discussions or private messages.
Nokia does not comment on rumours or speculation concerning anything not officially announced by the company, and as such discussion of such matters on this forum is also not permitted.
Nokia Support Discussions does not permit opinion polls, surveys or other similar forms of information gathering because it is not possible in the constraints of a web-based forum to ensure the validity and accuracy of results across a suitably representative sample of individuals.
Infringing on copyrights or intellectual property rights: Post only your own thoughts and/or material. Don’t post anything that violates or infringes on any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other proprietary rights, and don’t post URLs or links to websites or servers offering content or downloads that violate intellectual property rights.
Posting harmful or inaccurate information: Don’t post information, URLs, or links to websites or servers that contain software viruses or any other computer code, files or instructions that are designed to disrupt, damage, or limit the functioning of any software or hardware or that may void the warranty of a Nokia product.
Posting any content, be it via posts made in the forum or attachments or links to external websites contained within posts, which is in any language other than English: Nokia Support Discussions is a multinational forum accessible from every Nokia website around the world. In order to make operations simpler, we use English as a common language for all forum activities.
Privacy of Your Contact Information
The personal and contact information you provide when registering for Nokia Support Discussions is stored in the Nokia account database.
Your Discussions alias is the only personal detail that is visible to other Discussions users. This forum uses your email address only to send you system emails, like notifications of any new posts in topics that you have subscribed to. If you are under 18 years of age, you must have a parent or guardian register with Nokia Support Discussions for you in order to ensure legal responsibility for any posts you make.
Nokia Moderator Rights and Responsibilities
Nokia reserves the right to assign moderating and administrative rights to its agents. Nokia’s moderators are on hand to facilitate discussions and assist users with using discussion tools.
To this end, Nokia grants its moderators the right to edit and delete posts that they consider contrary to the community guidelines or otherwise illegal, harmful, or inaccurate. Nokia will attempt to conduct these activities in a timely fashion; however, Nokia is not responsible for delays in editing or removing posts, or for failure to do so.
Moderators may also take actions they deem necessary to limit user access to the discussions. For instance, a moderator can, at his or her sole discretion, ban a user from the discussions either temporarily or permanently and without warning.
Discussing or complaining about moderator actions on the forum is not allowed. If you feel that your posts have been moderated unfairly, please contact our Community Manager "michaels" via a private message or email us at email@example.com.
