E52 power-up fail

I'm now twice the victim of what seems to be a common problem--pressing the power switch on the E52 runs the vibrate motor but the phone never turns on.  ("Twice" because I bought another E52 after the first one had this issue--now I see it is common in E52 models.)

As I live in the US, Nokia service won't even look at it.

I've found the "pull battery, replace battery, try to power up, repeat until it works" fix; neither of mine respond to that.  Neither respond to the *+3+Send+power reset.  I'm going to disassemble one.

Are there any fixes I've missed?  Any components that can be replaced for this problem or do I just throw the phones away and get another brand of phone?

Thanks for any help.  -  bob v (Nokia user since 1997 but perhaps that's over now)

Re: E52 power-up fail

Some Problem here. One guru posted, that there is a low voltage protection circuit to prevent damage. It seems most liekely that this ist the reason, since for a while charging attempts circumvented the problem.

Re: E52 power-up fail

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you have had problems with this model. I can imagine that it's frustrating, especially if you are not able to help from Nokia service network.

Based on the description it really sounds like there is a HW fault in the device. I'm not able to provide troubleshooting instructions, and also I don't recommed trying to fix this on your own.
