While "mobile network data connection" (I'm translating from italian) is set on "on request", the mobile connection is always on.

In order to save battery power, what can I look for to have the phone online only when needed ?

My mobile data cant be always on from new year...it actually drain the battery faster when its comes up when needed...when the mobile data symbol was fixed for me the battery lasted longer....I guess it need extra power to start up all the time and disconnect. But Ive got a 808....

For Belle devices go to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Admin. settings > Mobile data > Mobile data connection

Unfortunately, "when needed" is already selected.

But...

I installed "Nokia Battery Monitor" which tells me "meteo" is working in background wasting a bunch of power. Please note, pressing "menu" I see the only running application is f-secure and not meteo. As far I can see, meteo does not allow me to stop its background behaviour. I don't know if that can explain the mobile connection always on despite the "when needed" setting.
