Hi All

The other night my e71 stopped sending text messages. When I try to send a text message it waits in the outbox saying that it will try to resend then after a while it says message sending failed.

I have tried the sim in another phone & texts went out as normal. I put a tmobile sim in & the same problem occured.

I have deleted a lot of texts but this should not make a difference as I have a 8gb memory card with plently of space left.

The only other thing that I did recently was to use the Nokia Maps which downloaded about 15MB worth of map content on the memory card. 

I have also done a full factory reset (how annoying as I have not made a recent back up!) but still no joy.

I am a loyal Nokia user but the last couple of handsets have started causing me problems which may make me go for a iphone for my next upgrade!

Try this. Go to messaging-options(settings)-text message and check message centers and other settings. Compare it with settings for your mobile network *on their web page). Firmware ver. 200... and higher doesnt have problem with >1000 message in inbox/outbox.

if this is not a solution write again and we'll try something else

Thanks for the reply. Checked & its the same number on the o2 website.

My messages are around 250 inbox & 200 outbox.

I'll try to load the back that I have saved otherwise if that does not work it looks like a trip to the Nokia Service shop!

Unless anyone has any other suggestions to try?

Just thought I'd give you a update.I managed to find a backup of my mobile settings from May which worked a treat! The mobile is now sending messages as normal.

Still not sure what happened to the settings!

Hey, sorry for just looking at the website. i have used nokia phones alot and havnt had any trouble with most of them but the nokie E71 does the exact same thing and will not send messages but will put them in the outbox and say "resend at a particular time"

this has happend more than once and i rang nokia and optus (which who i am with) it turns out its not the sim card as well but the phone.

the only way i can be able to send messages is to update my phone using the pc suit device and re-storing all of the settings. this is quiet annoying and was wondering if there is any other way of this being done because i am not always at my computer to be able to re-store and re-install the settings on my phone using pc suit,

any tips?

Hi all,

I am Nokia user since last 9 years...right now I am using E71 module...I live and worked in Saudi where I bought this set and now I am in Pakistan using this set...

Till two days back my E71 was perfectly working and now it has suddenly stoped sending messages...I have used my Simi to another nokia mobile E75 and it is perfectly working....

The problem I am facing is whenever I send a message it goes to outbox message and shows that this message will be sent after some time and later on it goes failed...I have tried local and international SMS but it didn't work...I have also checked on the help line that my service center saved in my mobile is correct and message center marked is SIM service provider center...also I have removed memory card but no luck....I have deleted all the messages from the inbox and outbox folder....

Yesterday I have restored the factory settings and try to send text messages but still the same problem..Appreciate if you please lookinto this and advise as I am out of office and I have to connect with my colleagues so often through SMS...

I am having the same problem and have tried everything that's been suggested but nothing works.

I was told in my local o2 shop that it was just general wear and tear of the phone, but don't believe that.

I hope that someone comes up with a solution soon.

Aside from the troubleshooting steps mentioned above, you can also try checking for available updates for the phone using Nokia Suite. If there is none, you can reinstall the software.

Try the following: Messaging/Options/Settings/Other

Number of saved msgs.: 999

Memory in use: Memory Card (choose your memory card)

You will note that 999 is the maximum number of messages your S60v3 mobile (N95, E90, E71, etc.) is designed to store, so you may want to back those up, or start having a look at what you don't need.
