Hi, after upgrade to FW81 I can see excess of log files. After a few weeks it was massive number of files that took several minutes to deleta. It also released about ~6MB of memory.
I need to stop generating this log files, advice how.
Path:
c:\data\logs\Eng\Ods\
Files are:
{17digits_possibly_date_time}_GALRequest.xlm
Content:
<AccountSetup><Request OP="GetEmailAccts"/></AccountSetup>
{17digits_possibly_date_time}_GALResponse.xlm
<AccountSetup><Response OP="GetEmailAccts"><EmailAccountType="POP3 UserDisplayName=... etc.
Looks it's EMAIL application who's generating that mess. BTW, the same isse is on my colleague's E72.
Thanks,
Jan

Thank you for reporting this.
Could you check that the email logging state is disabled on your E72 the following way?
Select Menu > Email > Settings > Global Settings > Scroll down to 7 Logs printing > Select Disable.
There still will be the small log files under the Phone memory > logs > Eng > ods. I will check if this was the planned behavior. The log files are useful if you have problems with Email, you are contacting Nokia Care.
You can safely delete all of log files by using File mgr. Go to Ods folder, select Options > Mark > Mark all > Options > Delete.

This issue is also found with simplified Chinese language version FW081.003.240.03. The "Logs output" setting has been set to "Disabled" and left unchanged since the first time I configured my pushmail account (a pretty long time, maybe 2 years ago?). This issue is suspected to be a bug of FW.081 only, as I haven't experienced such a problem since I bought this E72 in December 2009.
It has taken me more than two hours to delete 13600+ log files in folder "c:\data\logs\eng\ods", and the process is not yet finished by this present... The free mem of C drive has increased to 110MB (now) from the original state 5.1M (before the log file clean-up).
Hope Nokia techs would fix this soon coz I personally rely to the push mail badly.

By setting the "Periodical Sync" option (in Email Service/Account Settings) to Disabled (or OFF, not sure for accurated spelling coz my phone language is not set to English), those annoying xml log files stop being created, and the push mail feature remains FUNCTIONAL. However other Sync Mail accounts will not be synchronize periodically. Be sure to leave the "sync updates" option to Enabled/ON, I suppose this option is the one which affects the push mail feature.

At least for me the logging was already disabled. And now as I double checked - disabling it has no effect what so ever on logging - it keeps logging 2-3 mins intervals.
For me the first log file had appeared around Nov 24th, 2011 and by today when I started to deleting them I had around 17.000 .xml files. So far I it has been deleting 4 hours the log files.

Dear Jampe Technical Expert/Moderator
Please I need a solution.
My mobile continues to create "xml file" all days (when it receive an E-mail header), and Nokia does not give a solution? Why? I think strange the silence of the Nokia?
With this problem, the E72 need to have 2 or 3 GB of internal memory.
I use this E72 for my work.

May be you could try to disable your "logs printing" in your globlal settings .... even if already disable ! it will ask you to delete all logs . repeat this choice for all your email accounts;
May be the Ods folder will stay empty now.
Cheers from France.

This is planned to be fixed on future version of E72 software. Please check that you have disabled a logging on Email client settings.
Workaround until then is to delete the log files by using File mgr. Go to Ods folder, select Options > Mark > Mark all > Options > Delete.

I only have 45 MB space left on C(Phone Memory). I checked for the logs issue that's discussed in this post and I do not see any ods folder. Can you suggest what else can be deleted so that I can recover some space ? Are there are other cache folders that can be cleared?
