Phone is currently running software version 071.004.244.02. Understand that current release is 091.003. When checking for SW updates, either through Nokia Suite 3.7.22 or Phone > Ctrl panel > Device Manager or Phone > Ctrl panel > SW updates  the response is no updates available.

What can I do to install the latest release ? I have already reinstalled release 071.004 and executed a factory reset to reset the phone, and still get the same result.

If it say not available it means what it says.
updates are released in a lottery style updates vary by region,product code and network status.

Release 071.004 is dated June 2011. Curious to understand why no new releases have been available since then

If you care to post the seven character alphanumeric product code starting with "0" upon label under battery, we would have a better idea of whether this E72 is a network variant.

Sounds to me your operator skipped the update they often do this.

This was sourced via work in the US, and is being used on Vodafone UK.

Couldn't find a 7 digit alphanumeric, so below are a couple of items from the label
