No idea about the LED lifetime.
S60Spot works on my E71. You need to date back the phone for the installation (expired certificate).
The smartphoneware.com app does not enable the flash LED on my phone
Would have been cool to have a shortcut, which S60Spot does not provide.

Please help.
I have that problem on my e71 but I had it also on my old phones: n95, n95 8gb, e90

I sure hope the flash dies an expedited natural death. It's been totally useless - especially in close-up shots with reflective surfaces.
Using it mostly to wear down the batt - the flash eats up 1W when it's on.

You have to know how to hack your phone, and learn how to apply for a software signing certificate so that you can download unsigned nokia apps, sign them yourself, and download them onto your phone. I signed that S60SpotOn file and installed on my phone, worked great.
