Hi
I had the exact same issue. Here is how I rectified it trying to connect to my HP Photosmart C4599.
Firstly go into WLAN wiz in the connectivity section of your phone. This found the WLAN of the printer and allowed me to set up the access point for that printer. The phone defaulted the connection as 'hpsetup'
Then I used the following settings for printer setup
Driver - HP Mobile Printing
Bearer - Socket/HP Jetdirect
Acess Point - hpsetup
Host - Ip address of printer
Port - 9100
Printer model - i found this a biarre selection as it doesnt correspond with my printer model however I have mine set to 'Deskjet 96x,98x,99x...'
Beaware though because even as I type this response, my succes rate is hit and miss. every 3 or 4 times I am getting a connection error warning come up
All the best

Today I set up my HP Officejet 8500A e-All-in-One. After several failed attempts to print from my Nokia E71 and reading through this forum I FINALLY got it to print!
This is my configuration:
Printer: any name...
Driver: HP Mobile Printing
Bearer: LPR
Access point: make sure this is whatever network name your wireless printer is currently using.
Host: this is to be set to your printer's IP address.
User: also known as 'hostname'.
Queue: I put in the name of my network (SSID).
Printer model: for me 'officejet' printers
I can't print using the Ovi store's HP iPrint Photo app, but the above stated worked for me on about a 5 second delay to the printer.
Hope it helps!

Thanks so much! I have been fiddling around with different settings trying to get my phone to print for about a month. It's finally worked! Hooray

On my E72 I've solved in that way:
Printer: any name...
Driver: HP Mobile Printing
Bearer: Socket/HP JetDirect
Access point: The WLan on which is connected my HP Photosmart Plus
Host: this is to be set to your printer's IP address.
Gate: 9100
Printer model: for me "PhotoSmart Printers"
Enjoy the feature!

I finally managed to print with my E72 using TheAlien's settings and a new HP Officejet 6700 printer (for Printer Model, I selected OfficeJet Printers). The settings Tartallini listed did not work for me, but probably because that was for the E71.
When I first entered the IP address of the printer (in the Host: field), I had switched on the all-numbers typing, but then it entered colons ( : ) instead of periods ( . ), and of course that punctuation is not valid for an IP address, so it failed to print. So avoid that error! :-)
