Hi All

My E72 can't be updated further after 081.003.240.03, though I have tried all the given ways including

  1. Control Panel / Phone / Device Manager

  2. Control Panel / Phone / SW Update

  3. Nokia Suite for Windows

From Nokia website I can see that Latest software release for Nokia E72 is 091.004.

Any clue to update please?

hi mate,

the release of firmware updates depends on your phones product code. if you have a branded variant (e.g. Vodafone, with all their custom wallpapers and apps), then it is up to Vodafone to approve the update given to them by Nokia and release it to you. if your phone is a country variant (i.e. with custom country apps, customisations etc), it is up to your local Nokia to either approve and release the update or not.

if your phone is a branded variant, then you will need to contact your network carrier to ascertain availability of the update or not; should your phone be a country variant, then contact your local Nokia Care: http://nokia.com/support

According to the reseller, the phone was from Vodafone Australia's channel. However, there is no Vodafone logo on the phone.

hi Bbao,

if the product code doesnt' show up in what Jimmy has said, take off the back cover and the battery and look at the white sticker that has the Nokia logo on it, it should have the product code printed on it.

i don't think PR 4.0 refers to v91 but perhaps v81 only .

Emm... What is PR 4.0?? An alias of Nokia update such as v91 or v81?? Why Nokia's reference was not used??

Do I have to stay on Vodafone's channel to update the mobile phone? FYI, I am not a Vodafone Australia's subscriber.

Please help.

FYI - The updates ever applied on the phone were all OTA from Device Manager. Does it mean the last one was the PR 4.0 listed on the Vodafone Blog??

Any updates are released against product code and may be installed via FOTA or Nokia Suite upon PC, but are not dependent upon accessing via Vodafone network.

Any product code sample or pattern for E72 that is applicable for v91 update via OTA?

There are generic SIM free versions running 091.004.001 such as 0586213 Australia QW Black.

If I could change the product code, will it have impacts to existing applications and data?

Additionally, I am looking for a product code for HK firmware, as the HK version supports both English and simplified Chinese.

you're going to have to liaise with Nokia Care from now on with this matter mate. they're the only ones that will be able to assist you with the information you have now gathered.

Just checked at Nokia Support, my E72's warranty has expired, no surprise.

In thise case, will Nokia Care still offer free support to my phone?
