Why do you think that another E6 from another vendor (?) will be better? Blog entries from basically everywhere show that notifiction/vibration/battery are general issues of the phone, regardless of where it was purchased. Don't waste your money, and don't reward Nokia for mistakes they made, and for not fixing them, and for not communicating.

No, no. I wouldn't have bought one if I wouldn't have tested it first ![]()
And as I said, next week, I'm giving it back. And I will forget that Nokia exists and that it's a brand!
And Vodafone has to take the phone back. It's defect from the factory. Just install Fring and show them that when you have the vibrations on, and you send yourself a message from Y.-Messenger, the vibration is much stronger than the call or lock vibrations.
Don't even think of contacting Nokia Romania, they will send you to the shop (already tried it)

Hi.
I went to Vodafone and they offer to take it back in the legal two working days period. This would have meant today (09.08.2011) by the end of the day, so I would have the time to do it. I feel bad but I will get over the light notification and vibration problems to stick to the new OS and the touch screen. By the way, I discovered that, by having the wifi and bluetooth on (connected to the car or the headset) the battery ran out from 6AM to 8PM. I will pay much more attention to buying Nokia products in the future.
I was sure they will go down in a few years by keeping it this way.
All the best.

Very Dissapointed with Nokia E6. Regret purchashing this device. I am a long time Nokia User and last set was E72.
Regret selling E72. Any ways....now going back to E72...or Apple IP or BB.

Hi guys,
I am also extremely bewildered how Nokia can let something like that broken notification light happen on such a high end and expensive device. Other than that I love the phone.
Luckily, I have a solution to the problem - but its not free ($8 in Australia):
Download the app 'Remind Me' from the store. This will allow you to choose from all the possible notification lights on the phone:
Volume buttons
Red mute LED
Control Deck
Display*
Keyboard*
*The keyboard and display light seems to be buggy, though, but the control deck works like a charm and is what I am using. Its very bright and easy to see.
It works fine (Even with E-mail!) and has saved me from kicking this phone right back at Nokia, since I assumed it would have a light as least equal to that of my E5 which I had before. No such luck, I'm afraid.
Still, this in an exusable oversight by Nokia and I will surely be very careful next time I buy a $400 top of the line phone from them - if I ever will after this amateurish stunt with the E6.

Can you go into more detail about this "Remind Me" app because this might be a saving grace for the handset which I anticipated buying but after reading this thread and other forums I am not throwing money away. How do the various buttons light up?

I bought the app because I was desperate for a working light - and luckily it delivered (But it is a hefty 8 bucks). As I wrote above; when you chose to let the screen and keyboard blink it seems to have some bugs. The other options are:
1) The two volume buttons on the right side
2) The little red LED between the volume buttons
3) The control deck (Basically all the 6 buttons to the right and left of the D-pad)
The three above work perfectly. I liked the little red LED, but this can only be seen from the right side, so I chose the control deck option which it easy to spot and works beautifully.
If you want different lights for calls, txts or e-mails then this can be done, too. You can also activate notification sounds and vibration, if you so like - although I haven't actually tried this yet.
The notifications itself is 5 short blinks (This doesn't seem to be changeable...?) but you can change the durations between the blink sequences. The minimum is 5 seconds, which gives you pretty much constant blinking. I tested constant blinking of the control deck at work today all day to see how much impact it had on battery - my conclusion is nothing noteworthy.
One thing I forgot to mention before is that the 'Remind Me' will need to run minimized - but as I said, I can't see any noticable impact on my battery.
Its a great fix for this incredible mistake by Nokia.

I bought the Remind Me app from the OviStore too! Needed a quick solution instead of waiting around for Nokia to do something about it.
Thanks for finding this, DeluxScan. It works!! I'm happy ![]()
Costs $6.99 CAD though -__-

You mentioned that this app needs to run minimized - do I have to start it manually after turning the phone on, or is there a kind of autostart feature?

You can chose to have it start automatically, so no problems.

Hello All,
I am from India, got my E6 yesterday, and having the same...notification light problem, its too dim.
I tried to purchase RemindMe from OVI, but could not, as it kept saying Card Errors, though I tried with 3 different cards.
Has anyone successfully purchased the same in India..as whole adding a payment option in my Ovi account, its saying, no option available for this country..

Wouldn't it be great if Nokia could provide us with "RemindMe" for free as a cheap fix for the notification "issue"?
I wrote them today in hope for a response ![]()

That's smart perus.
I bought the "Best Reminder" instead cos it's cheaper & notification light is not an issue for me. Just the vibration, tested everything else before I bought(1 month ago) but just assumed the vibrate function is just as good the other Nokia models.

I just installed RemindMe app, it's fantastic. I would use this over the D pad even if it worked in the first place. Being able to assign different lights to different events is great.
I too seem to think the Control Deck option or the red mute LED is best.
"Now i have a phone!"
Thanks for finding, whoever it was. cheers

it is a good app and it works well.
HOWEVER, IT IS AN ABSOLUTELY APPALLING INDICTMENT ON NOKIA, A COMPANY THAT SADLY USED TO MAKE DECENT HARDWARE, THAT USERS WHO PAY DECENT MONEY FOR A PREMIUM DEVICE NEED TO PAY A FURTHER $8 FOR SUCH BASIC FUNCTIONALITY.
ABSOLUTELY APPALLING. IS PROFITEERING THE NEW BUSINESS MODEL FOR NOKIA? AS A COMPANY YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED AND EMBARRASSED OF YOURSELVES.

They should license it from the developer and put it into Ovi store as a free Nokia offering for E6 users. Most likely cheaper than to redesign the E6, repair the ones that have been sold already, and/or to lose even more customers, and/or to prevent others from buying an E6.

I noticed a "Remind Me - free" application in the ovi store.
I don't yet have an E6, which is which is why I'm following this thread, so I can't test it here.
Can someone confirm whether there's enough functionality in this free version to overcome this Nokia **bleep**-up?
TIA
