Can someone please tell me if this bug is on all e6 phones? because im thinking of getting this.

I am from Romania, and my E6 is from Manila.
Vodafone has a Black E6 in Romania - Same problems.
Orange has a gray E6 (which I tried) - Same problems.
The phone is not that bad, and I think they are working on a fix. It's your decision!

Maybe you can install this from Nokia Betalabs?
It is a screen saver...makes missed things visible, Ithink...

By the way, where should notification light be appear on phone? (center button?)
When there is message or missed call, I cannot see any light come up on any part of phone.
Is it a bug?

Doesn't run properly on the E6, as discussed here and in the beta lab blogs already.

I tried it before,,,took it away as al these kind of applications dry up the battery.
It seems that if you registred your phone as E6, the option is taken away to download it now.
Anyhow, perhaps the application will be altered to fit with E6 later on.

Hi all
I note many of you downloaded "Remind Me" and use "Control Deck" to light up the phone when a text is received. I downloaded it for my E6 and can't get it to light up. Whatever I select makes no difference. There is no option for control Deck in the settings for Remind Me. I got it from the Ovi store for £6, so I presume I have the right app.
Any help would be appreciated.

You have to configure the settings for call and for SMS.
Pleas check that you have selected the right indicator!

It is called "Indicator 2" in the Remind Me app (not control deck). It lights up the soft keys around the D-Pad.
Hope this helps.

Here's an idea that could be relatively cheap and easy for Nokia to implement as a fix to the breather/indicator light issue on the E6:
I think we all agree that the current D-pad configuration does not allow the light from the LED underneath to be seen properly. The E-72 had an additional translucent plastic bezel around the D-pad to effectively channel the light from the LED's underneath. As a fix, this may be difficult to do on the E6 because it would require an additional part and a mechanical design change.
I believe the current E6 D-pads are clear plastic and are painted in the corresponding colors of black, silver, and white on the underside (therefore the glossy glass effect). So, if you just take the current E6 D-pad and instead of painting it completely, leave a border around the D-pad of say 1.5mm, this would allow the light from the LED underneath to be seen. Better yet, if you could paint/finish the border of the D-pad to a translucent finish, it would work as a diffuser. This would be even better in order to see the LED when lit.
I'm not talking about adding any components but just having a different "paint job" on the D-pad (translucent on the borders and solid in the center).
Now I'll go even further: Nokia could offer to change out the old D-pad with a new one in any Nokia Care center (should be an easy replacement). This would require no additional parts to be added to the original design or a significant design change and could easily be done by a tech at an authorized Nokia care center (this would especially avoid a recall of the phone). Just change the old D-pad to a new one!
Nokia, if you are reading this please take this into consideration. I run a projection optics company and we know all about LED's, light pipes, backlights, diffusers, etc. This should work as an easy fix.
I hope you will see the light ;-)

I mentioned the horrible notification light bug in this post comparing the E6 to the E72 and N8...

Man. Doe you want to tell me that the E6 is better than the E72!
Than answer me, which phone would you rather rely on?????
E6 has better hardware, but the soft is unstable!!!!!! (and software is everything, cause the hardware is the same, old one)
I Got the E6 because I loved my E5. E5 was my main and only reason!!! (thinking the E6 is an improved E5)
I rather have the E5 now!!!!!!!!!

In what way is the E6 software unstable? I've had the phone for two months now and it has been solid. I still have the N8 and E72 but I prefer to use the E6 because of Anna. As soon as my N8 receive the Anna update though I'm going back to my N8.

Come on..... Vibration issue, SMS issue after update to v22.014,... And even when installing apps, there's a little lag! (which meant 1 minute for me before Hard reset!!!! )
And there are just some of my problems! Other users don't have battery, or the phone restarts!
There are serious problems whit this device. If that dosn't bother you...that's your thing, but don't recommend it to business users!!!!!

I also haven't noticed the notification light working.
I have the white handset and have the same problem with seeing the keypad. White on white = very low visibilty!

Nope, I have the white one and still have the same problem.

Does the notification light issue only effect the Black version of the e6, or all colours?
It seems an excellent phone apart from this one issue, and I wonder if swapping it for another colour might solve it?

I wrote an e-mail to Nokia support US citing the issue and recommending the fix in my previous post. I got an autoreply with a service request number. Lets see what happens.
Although I am based in France I wrote Nokia support US because I figured its still August and the French are all on vacation and probably won't do anything anyway ;-) Maybe I'll write them as well.
I would like to suggest to all of you who are annoyed with this issue write to Nokia directly (our rants in the forum probably have limited impact).
Maybe if we flood them with e-mails on this issue they'll take it seriously!
2011-08-28 12:25
I wrote them twice.
1st a guy called who was nice but clueless. He tried to calm me down with general statements.
2ndly I got a written blablabla answer.
Then I brought the phone to repair service, one issue of complaint being notification light. When I got it back, the notification light was unchanged.
I think the rants here in this forum are important. Nokia read it on a regular basis. They almost never answer, but they do discuss internally. There is no guarantee that there will ever be a solution-but at least it reaches more relevant levels at Nokia faster and more directly, compared to sending a message to Nokia care.
Last but not least, I am sure Nokia know that many potential customers read this forum first, before making a buying decision. No customer ever becomes aware of how many complaints arrive via Nokia Care. So Nokia better take the comments in this forum seriously.
Basically, using allcommunication paths to get a nagging issue resolved, is a good thing, but I think, most importantly, we have to take care that our threads don't slip to page three or four of this forum, so that new potential customers can see them immediately, and so that Nokia never believe that it is only a handful of "grumblers" who continue to complain.

The notification light dimness issue in E6-00 has been recognized in Nokia R&D, and there are corrective actions ongoing to improve the visibility of the light.
