Re: Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

Does the notification light issue only effect the Black version of the e6, or all colours?
It seems an excellent phone apart from this one issue, and I wonder if swapping it for another colour might solve it?

...then you are the only person worldwide who doesn't have that problem.

Can you tell us more: which "light" is shining bright and clear on your E6? The one around/underneath the D-pad? Because THIS is the one we're talking of.

Re: Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

Thanks.

I love the phone and I am a heavy user so the battery life lasts me a day ,it is comparable to the iphone 4 battery with similar usage.

Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

So, before this slips to page #99 of this forum and gets forgotten: any news Nokia? Are you able/willing to fix these 2 severe issues and when? Will you tell us?

1. no notification light can be set for emails

2. notification light for SMS/missed calls invisible

We know you're reading this.

Re: Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

Actually i am not so sure that someone from Nokia is reading this ,they would have given us at least an answer if this is a software problem or not.I am no longer interested in the phone I just check to see when and if someone from Nokia would reply>

They do read, and sometimes answer, unfortunately often with standard statements that don't help (see weak battery thread).

Like you I find it annoying that one can't even get a statement from them on whether or not they have acknowledget this as a problem and if they inted to fix it or not. I wouldn't even expect them to release a firm date for a fix,  just tell us that your'e working on it.......so we can keep our E6s rather than dumping them, and rather than escaping from Nokia as (still, and despite everything) our perferred vendor of mobile phones.

Re: Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

Hhhm, Nokia business report came out a few days before:

STEPHEN ELOP, NOKIA CEO:

We have shifted our sales focus and marketing resources more towards retail interactions with consumers.

----  I not see this...  ----

Thus, while our Q2 results were clearly disappointing .......

..... Sure !!  , I am diappointed too  .....

Re: Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

It is mindboggling that Nokia would release a phone with such an obvious problem.  This almost invisible notification light is a bug that Nokia should have caught almost instantly during their testing.  What were they thinking?  CAN NOKIA PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS?

Re: Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

[ Edited ]

So...  I brought a Nokia E6 the week it was released. I was feeling a little cautious being an early adopter and as I suspected some of my important Apps being Spotify and FourSquare weren't available...

But I quickly identified the Notification light didn't work, then found this discussion string and after being in a very dark room found that the light was very dim and not broken.  Being a Nokia E71 and E72 owner I knew what I expected and has not a happy E6 owner.

I contacted Nokia Care and was first directed to a Nokia Care point and Nokia Care were treating me as if my handset was broken.  Their off-shore helpdesk is awful, they don't understand your problem, their grasp of english is terrible and it's very hardwork to get anything from them or get them to own a problem.

After some persistence I got my problem escalated to 2nd line Tech, who after 2 weeks and a chase call finally called me back. The first thing the woman said was, "I want to remotely connect and diagnose your problem" I once again explained what the problem was, directed her to this very Discussion Forum, and highlighted the Nokia Expert Comment from June and I asked what are R&D doing about this?  The woman persisted in wanting to connect to my phone and I once again had to explain the button is too big, you can't see the glow of the light properly, the fact there isn't a firmware update from Nokia for the E6 and that this was a factory handset there's nothing she will ascertain from a remote connection... etc etc etc.

She finally acknowledged there was nothing she could do and it would have to go to 2nd line tech...  (what a Tech she was, I thought she was 2nd line already!)

Another week has gone by, and still heard nothing. The Nokia Care / Tech support are awful, I'm fed waiting. And this has taken soo long to resolve I was at risk of exceeding the 30day return period from the supplier I brought the phone from, so had no choice but to return it as I could not get an answer our of Nokia of a resolution!!!

I'm absolutely p*ssed off with Nokia, all the waiting, chasing and wasting of my time. assessments, they can't even read and understand their own discussion forum!

And we wonder why today they report losses of 500million Euro!!  Very disappointed after being a loyal and happy customer for many years and owner of the Nokia 5100 years ago, through to the N97 8GB, N96, E65, E71, N97 Mini and Nokia E72.    the E6 is a very nice handset, Camera is amazing, Battery 3 days usage, the new Anna interface is good, but something essential as a Notification Light coupled with the service from Nokia - overall a bad bad experience.

Re: Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

don't hold your breath - as stated in my very long winded post, I've been in direct contact with Nokia Care line about this problem and they can't return calls and refuse to transfer you interally. I've been waiting almost a month for a reply, so the chances of them responding to a Discussion Forum Post = slim to none!

Re: Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

I always thought that actually it was their arrogance in how they handled customer requests/complaints that eventually made them lose their leading position, rather than Symbian weaknesses or similar.

For many years, this was covered by a continuous stream of innovative products.

Now, as others do offer sexy products too, their arrogance/ignorance/incompetence when dealing with customer complaints, plus the release of new phones with unbelievably silly - avoidable - problems (E6 notification light, weak battery), plus the market's confusion/dissatisfaction over their future direction, does the rest - see their quarterly results.

I, as a 20 years faithful nokia follower, would really like them to survive, and stay my perferred phone brand. But:

- I do not have the slightest interest in a W7 phone.

- I like Symbian - why didn't they put even more efforts in making it better and better faster and faster (by the way what are 2.800 (!) Symbian developers doing all day long? So many people, releasing so few enhancements so rarely - what's wrong with them? Why aren't they capable of giving us e.g. a 3rd checkbox for notification light for emails in - let's say, 2 weeks?

- Lets not forget, up until a few weeks ago (!), Symbian clearly held the biggest share of the market - only after the W7/dump Symbian announcement, others took over. Why was nobody able to build upon that asset?

- MeeGo, what the f**kis going on here, a new phone with promising specs being released, new Opsys looking exciting, a clear destiction from all others, why on earth aren't they building this up as an alternetive, in parallel to Symbian?

I do not at all understand this strategy. Nor do many Nokia employees (as rumor mill tells). This is so frustrating, I think Elop will make history as the guy who killed Nokia.

@50percent:  You are the first one to say that you had Battery for 3 days usage.  Most of us in this forum had the battery less than a day, even when the phone is used very minimal...

Could u confirm how did you manage to have ur E6 phone lasting for 3 days of battery life?  Were u simply looking the phone keepit in powered off? :smileywink:

Re: Nokia E6 doesn’t have notification light

I can see it fine. Currently sitting in my living room with the light on and going through the tedious process of sending contacts one by one via bluetooth from my HTC Legend to my E6 which I purchased yesterday through Crazy Johns and I can make out the notification light fine. Battery life has also proved very strong, dropping only 1 bar in about 20 hours.
