Nokia E6 email client not functional

Hi,
Anyone got problem with emails not being updated correctly?

Have 3 POP3 accounts in my E6 and tested sync "soonest" and "15min" and never updates it for new emails, not even when i hit "z" it seems to sync correctly.

Even sometimes it does, the overview screen/Home screen is stuck with preview from old emails.

Hate this because if the email does not work properly it is completely useless for me. This works perfect on my E71 and E72.

Yes, I am having this problem too & have done the same as you - tried "soonest" & "15 mins" with no difference.

 

I have 4 Hotmail accounts set up & have sent test emails & gone an hour without any emails & I have to "sync" it to check for them. 

 

They don't update when I delete from my Hotmail account on my PC either.

 

The 2 little lines that used to be under the "3g" icon in the top left hand corner are not showing all the time as well, like they were on the E72 so I'm presuming my connection is not "always on".

 

I have come from the E72 as well & also agree that this will be useless for me as well if it doesn't update (I only got this phone because of its larger memory or I would've stayed with the slow, constantly sticking E72) & I bought this phone outright!

A very  helpful Nokia lady seems to have almost solved the problem for me:

 

When setting up a mailbox, DECLINE the terms & conditions.  It will ask you if you are sure & say yes.  This will give you an entirely different batch of mailbox settings & if it doesn't automatically do it, you can then set up the access point through these, which was an option that wasn't there before & then you can set up the sync, giving you the option to sync as soon as every 5 minutes.

 

DECLINE the terms & conditions for every mailbox you set up.

 

I don't trust the sync frequency hours as being all day in case it stops of an evening or overnight (unless you want this) so I "user defined" it to 00.00-23.59.

 

It has worked with my Hotmail accounts & so far, my emails are coming in within 4 minutes, which is better than never, which is what I had before!!

 

Now to work out if I can view other sub-folders within my mailbox...!

Decline Ts&Cs, and a new secret menu will come up!? It is actually unbelievable which strange workarounds on a Nokia phone are still needed to complete a task that is very basic standard on any other platform....like us Nokia followers painfully got used to over the past years....shocking that this is STILL needed, it seems they are not willing to learn, and they do not understand WHAT made them get into the trouble they are facing today. I'm beginning to lose trust, it might well be they will never ever get it right, as long as I live (or as long as they live?)

I have this exact same problem coming from E72 to E6 with Hotmail accounts. Emails will not sync at specified intervals. I have to manually sync. When setting up a new email account, I'm not offered any terms or conditions to accept or decline. It just creates the mailbox from the email username and password. I've also found that, after creating an email account, I can't delete it. A message says it's deleting but it doesn't. When the message goes, the account is still there. Can anyone help?

E6 & Belle Refresh.

 

Have had same email accounts. The other one (IMAP, without active sync) stopped working properly last November.

It doesn't refresh the messages! It is stuck at date 28th of Nov 2012.

There is newer emails available but the phone app doesn't show them.

 

Tried to delete the account more than once, no luck. Tried to change every possible setting, no luck.

PWD and user name are 100% correct.

 

Is the only way a soft or a hard reset or going to the service point for a wipeout?

Presumably a typographic error and you meant *#7370# but after this a destructive three key depressed power on "hard reset" can also remove some essential files for Nokia Store & Maps in addition to deleting user data from C\: and E:\ necessitating Nokia Care facility re-furbish device replacing firmware to return device to "Out of box" state.

Symbian specialist until 31/01/2013 with interests in Maemo & MeeGo but an aversion to Windows!
