Hi

I have had my 5230 since Dec and have tried to use the maps but with no success.  I have followed numerous instructions fron these forums again with no success.

My prob is that when i attempt to use the Ovimap, I get to the main menu and press Position the map shows for a couple of minutes, yellow bar at bottom blinks then phone restarts.

Any help would be great. Thanks

What firmware what maps version and what maps software version .

What is your phone's firmware? Check by *#0000#. The latest version available is V20.0.005 Get it update and you would probably have new version of maps and no problem with restarting issue.

Firmware is 12.0.089 which site says is latest, tried to update but nothing to update and I have ver 3.03 (246) maps

Try this:

1. Uninstall Ovi map 3.03
2. Delete the cities folder and qf file from memory card.
3. Reboot phone
4. Reinstall Ovi Maps 3.03
5. Open maps and wait a few minutes
6. Download maps from Maps Loader or Ovi Suite.

If the problem still persist then try uninstalling the OVI maps 3.03 and reinstall it.

Hi and thanks for the advice.  Tried what you said and still the same thing happens.  I start maps and after about 30 secs the phone reboots.

I experence the same with the latest E72 f/w and after installing the offered ovi maps update.

(031.023.c00.01, RM 530)

Before it worked; now it reboots the phone.

I did reinstall ovi maps via ovi but that doesn't work. Haven't deleted the cities stuff as mentioned above; will ry that as well.

@OP, try using the new OVI maps 3.04.

Has there been any resolution to this issue? My phone has begun doing the exact same thing now and it's making me crazy trying to fix it. have tried everything, nothing works.

I have an E72-2. This problem has been persistent without resolution. It is one of the reasons I will be selling this phone and not returning to Nokia. As basic phones they are great. I'm a smartphone person and these have fallen too far behind the competition. When basic functions don't work and there is little hope things will improve it is time to move on.
