I have around 600 favourites (restaurants, bars...) in the Ovi Maps of my N8 (some of the favourites were from my good old 5800XM).

Is there the possibility of transfering all this boomarks to Google Maps? I have a blog in Blogger and would be great to have all of them stored there...

If you had synchronised your Nokia landmarks to an earlier than Symbian^3 device, you could have exported the .lmx file and convert to .kml Google Earth format using converter such as found here:http://www.gps-data-team.com/convert.php

Thanks,  aspergerguy, but I didn't export the files before changing to Symbian^3.

And I think that this online editor is to convert the files one by one... with around 600 favourites, I would need some kind of "massive converter".

Just found a solution yesterday.

You only have to install Google Maps app in your N8.

It will automatically detect all the favourites in your Ovi Maps. You even have an "export" option to send them to Your Google Maps and save them.

Problem solved!!!

Hi, I also discovered that recently. Now I'd like to know if it is possible to the contrary as simply : to export google maps favorites to ovi maps ?

I would also like to know the answer to that question.  I recently had my N8 crash, lost all my ovi maps places, ended up having to send it back to Nokia, they replaced the phone, thought I'd lost it all, until I installed Google maps. Now, I need to know how to syncronize or export my google maps locations to my ovi maps... any help?

Did you ever log in to your Ovi/Nokia account and sync your Maps favorites?  Just log in again and do another sync and they should come back.

Sorry..I am also clueless about the 'Export' option..but as mentioned otherwise, the Favourites from Nokia Maps automatically gets exported to Google Maps as experienced by me...

I am trying to help a friend getting Nokia Maps and Google Maps to sync.

Some number of years ago, the two became integrated via sync. Favorites that you posted on either one could be made to show up on the other.

Something seems to have changed, either with new releases of Nokia Maps, or with Google Maps. On my friend's phone, when he saves a favorite on Nokia Maps, it does show up on Google Maps, but when he posts on Google Maps, it does NOT show up on his Nokia Maps.

I could post all the version numbers, but I'd rather simply ask what versions of each of these will currently sync to the other? Is the sync process is now broken, what versions of either program will I need to go back to on his phone, in order to get the 'sync' process working again.

As a side note, I did a search on the interent, and many people said to revert back to an older version of Google Maps. This is difficult, as Google no longer seems to have copies for download of older versions, and the websites that offer to provide them seem to be full of spyware.

The installed version is v 4.01(1) ..but I have the .sisx of the older version ..not sure about the version though ...

Do either of you know what it is that "broke" in the maps sync process?   I will try out the old version and see if it cures the problem, but I'm still curious as to why this happened.

Only have either S60 3rd FP1, FP2, Anna and Belle FP1 devices to hand, so can't say whether issue starts with Belle and later or is related to cessation of Google (places) voice search support upon Symbian devices.
