Nokia suite came up with an update today for the maps, installed, phone restarted and when I open Maps message "Feature not supported" seems like people who have updated are facing problem. /t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Nokia-N8-Softw
Trying to install via beta labs didn't help, when I check application manager I couldn't find maps application anywhere.

Unortunately trying to restore a previous backup does not revert the applications back to the state before upgrading Maps with PC Suite over Anna.

So far so good... do a back-wards re-install from 3.06 after Uninstall of whatever is the BUG
Uninstall what you can see in Applications manager. Start with Nokia Maps, ODML Commons Repository and then Nokia Maps Installer. If you have anything that says Ovi Maps. Destroy it too!
Want to go back to 3.06?
If you would like to go back to 3.06 version, you will first need to un-install these applications from the Application Manager then re-install 3.06.
First, un-install these from the Application Manager:
(Helpful Hint: Unistallation process is faster if you uninstall “Ovi Maps” and “Ovi Maps ODML” first.)
Next, re-install 3.06 from Ovi Store.
So I have uninstalled the BUGGY version.
Uninstalled 3.0.8 BUGGED from Nokia Software Updates and Components. Of course, Drive, Weather and Here & Now cannot be seen in Applications Manager.
Installed ovi_maps_installer_3_06_11wk10_b01_tb9_2
Seems to be working. Maps in F:\ not destroyed so far; maybe in default E:\ but I do not care about what was in E:\ My world map is in F:\
Installed ovi_maps_installer_3.07_11wk17_b04_tb9.2
Working as well, Maps & Drive... etc.
Now, trying to do this:
nokia_maps_installer_3.08_11wk27_b01_TB9.2_NOCS_BE
See if it works...
Then, I will try this...
nokia_maps_smartinstaller_3.08_11wk34_b01_TB9.2_NO
Which is the last BETA before this Nokia Software Update.
BTW. ODML Commons Repository is no longer needed. If you find it in your Applications Manager. Remove it after you successfully install upto the lastest Maps available from Beta Labs before this BAD UPDATE from Nokia Software Update.

@childofthewo_mj
When I posted suggesting using this procedure detailed at Nokia Beta Labs for removing v3.08 about 3 hours ago the response was that:
The problem is that the only components that show up in "Installed Applications" are:
The others just aren't there!
Perhaps you have been more fortunate!

OK. I have succesfully re-installed
nokia_maps_smartinstaller_3.08_11wk34_b01_TB9.2_NO
and cofirmed working...
When I uninstalled my Nokia Maps, these are the only ones I had.
Check In
Check In Agent
Check In Data
Check In Widget
Create a Place
Nokia Maps
Nokia Maps Installer pre-release
ODML Commons Repository
...
In fact, you only need to remove
a) Nokia Maps
b) ODML Commons
c) Nokia Maps Installer
Reboot when you have done this.
Then do an Install of 3.0.6, wait for Ovi Maps to re-install. This will over-write the Maps Application location in C:\
Answer yes to all prompts including "Delete Old Maps", it reverts back to E:\
Since 3.0.6 does not have Maps, Drive, Check-In, Weather... etc as separate applications, any call to any icons that was never removed during Maps Uninstall will call 3.0.6
Then, you can do 3.0.7
It is confirmed working too. This is when they added different home screen widgets and will overwrite CheckIn, Drive... etc..
Then, finally, redo the 3.0.8 from Beta Labs (earlier version without Smart Installer)
Then finally, redo the 3.0.8 with Smart Installer
Reboot after each install just to make sure.
;-)
Good luck.
I'll find a repository where you can download the files I am talking about.

... AND A NOTE TO NOKIA ...
PLEASE... PLEASE... PLEASE...
![]()
IF YOU ARE GOING TO PUSH AN UPDATE, PLEASE MAKE SURE IT WORKS AND NOT BRICK ONE OF THE MOST USED AND MOST IMPORTANT APP IN A NOKIA DEVICE, WHICH MAKES OR BREAKS NOKIA.
THANKS.
We would appreciate the Update to be Pushed, but without the BUGS.
I would actually recommend someone @ NOKIA to immediately remove this Software Update from the Repository before more DAMAGE could be done!

I have a Nokia N8, I'm based in the UK, and I made the mistake of updating Nokia Maps tonight. I was so worried I'd've lost it forever, I restored factory settings and attempted a re-update over the usb connection, only that failed after the connection dropped and sent the phone into TEST MODE.
I'm lucky to even have this phone now...![]()
Then again, now that I have no Nokia Maps at all, I've noticed 5 related apps in my applications folder... Check In, Map Loader, Guides, Weather and Drive...
Nokia Maps DOES exist... but it's not all there...
Please sort this out Nokia, don't let this mistake be repeated by everyone!

Have it too on n8

Yes, while we wait for a FIX. You can do what is posted above in Msgs 14, 15 & 16 and is working. I have my old 3.0.8 from Beta Labs working again....
Don't want to wait for a fix from Nokia because I need my Maps, almost immediately right now!!!!
