When using nokia drive on Windowsphone, how do you navigate to a location without knowing the address or postcode. ?
On nokia mpas on symbian you simply hold the point on the screen, and you can then either save it, navigate to it or all of the above.
unless I'm totally missing something then this functionality is totally missing on Nokia Drive what a step bakwards
If I search for a place (such as a postcode) then having found this point I look/browse the area to find car parking, there is no way to select the location to navigate there, similarly if I browse to a location, it is impossible to get it to just navigate to the current displayed location....
Am I right and this basic and really useful functionality has gone, or what have I missed ?

Yes, you have missed. Start Nokia Maps. Long press the location you want to navigate to. A little black tag with location should appear. Tap this, followed by Directions to here and then Start Navigation. Nokia Drive should now start. I presume you have a WP8 device.

No that's not it. or at least it isn't on my work 610 and the wifes 800, both of which are win7, maybe this is a Win8 feature only that you mention ?
Running maps will not give voice guidance. The solution you propose will show turn by turn directions but I get no option to navigate or jump from "Maps" to "Drive".
Favourites also do not appear to be shared between the two. This appears to be the same on my work 610 and on my wifes 800.
I'm thinking about getting an 820 as my N8 has been crippled by updates from Nokia to the point of being unuseable, but if the sat nav isn't going to work well, then I may not as the sat nav is a good feature for me as I have no desire to carry multiple devices about, but if this works on Win8 then all is OK.

Thought you might say you are on WP7. Well unfortunately you will probably never see this functionality on a WP7 phone due to core restrictions within the OS. This restriction which is there for security reasons restricts the sharing of data between apps, which is also why the favourites are not shared.
Sorry to hear your N8 is crippled by updates, which should not happen with a bit of regular house keeping. Sounds to me like it is due a reset.
You will find Maps and Drive on the WP8 devices work pretty much as they should and certainly as described above. You can definitely navigate to a point and both Map data and favourites are shared between both Here Maps and Drive. Feel free to ask if you have any more queries.
