Got new phone yesterday, updated everything and all was working great. This morning it showed new update to maps (even taht maps app shows latest version bring 8.11.2012). After the update the app is not opening anymore. I have tried reinstalling this several times.
I thought that Apple was suppose to suck with maps not Nokia?

Got it working again.
1. Uninstall
2. Soft reset the device (press power & vol down button, wait the device to vibrate three times)
3. Reinstall

SOLUTION
The problem is caused by beta version of Nokia Drive + Beta - uninstalling it solves all the issues. No need to reset or uninstall anything else.

Surpricingly that works! So I uninstalled both maps and Nokia Drive+. Then installed maps first (opened the app after install) and then drive+. Now both works fluently. I even tried 2 minutes before that maps reinstall is still not working so this cannot be that there was just a new update.

Did you uninstall and reinstall just Maps or both Maps and Drive? Try both if you have only done one. Also which hard reset did you to?

Next time you turn it on offline, can you check and see if your downloaded maps are still there following the reset? If they are, try deleting them also and see if that helps.

I don't understand. Do you say to delete all the maps in the phone and then download a new one?

Yes. The reason I am suggesting that is becuase 2 thing in Maps uses the internet, Map data and agps. With Maps for Symbian, corrupt map data use to cause the application to crash just as it is starting. Deleting the existing map data would at the very least eliminate this as the reason.
I don't think the faulty update file is the cause because the fix should have worked its way around the world by now.

A slightly different problem. When I updated maps this morning half way through the down load it came up with a " Try again later message, error code 8103010D"
Which has now changed the maps icon name to"@c:\data\programs\e{"
It also has muted the uninstall option only leaving the share option highlighted. So I can't uninstall it.
I uninstalled drive and did a soft reset. Everytime I t
ap on the icon it takes me to the download option though same error message everytime.
pls no hard reset, or should I just wait.

You need to uninstall and reinstall. If it wont let you uninstall then you may have to hard reset. If you are worried about having to set up your phone again, it is very simple with the 920. Just backup your data and settings to the cloud and apps can be reinstalled using an app called Reinstaller available from the Marketplace. You will have it done in no time.

This is gonna sound silly, I plugged my phone to back up settings in the cloud. But I can't find a way to back them up. Only upload pictures and files etc. Is there a settings button to do this. Sorry.
