It is automatic. After clicking download for the map of the Philippines, Nokia Suite indicates that it is downloading and installing the Base map of Asia. The download and installation of Philippine map follows.

Hello, I have similar problem with Nokia c5-03. I just updated Nokia Suite and all the maps (I have Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland). Now when I try to use the navigation I have the error message 'car navigation cannot start at this location' and the phone stays in navigation mode with my actual position well defined (I just use the integrated GPS, no network based positioning) but no direction shown. I have already deleted all the maps with the nokia suite and reinstalled, but the error message is still there. All software is up to date. I am getting crazy with that. I have many favourites, I do not know how to copy them, so I would like not to manually delete the cities directory, but I use the nokia suite for that. Please help me! Many thanks! Lanfranco

Hello from Portugal
I'm having the same problem on my 5800 since the 21th. Until then the GPS was fine.
I also tried to unsinstall the maps, reverted the gps program to the version it had when I bought the phone (2 years ago) and then updated but it keeps getting the same error. I even restore some recent backups but I think it didn't affect the gps, not even the favourites.
It seems to me that too many people are having this problem. I hope Nokia releases a new update fast fixing this bug.

Same on Nokia 500. I managed to get old maps just for my country in 0.2.46.103 version and now it works. I hope Nokia will solve this fast cause I'm going abroad soon.

I think Nokia meant to do that, since my Nokia phone with Symbian Belle works perfectly in offline mode with the new map (47) version, and my 5800 requested connection to calculate my route, I think they want to do that with old phones.
Ovi maps is now called HERE, in the site they say "No matter what kind of phone you have, HERE has maps to suit. On some phones, you can even use our maps without an internet connection."
Bad decision by NOKIA
Good Luck!

Hi!
I got the same problem after the update for NOKIA 5230.
In my case I have a copy of Map-files for previous Map version: 00.02.46.103, that helps me.
But it is possible to use direct download of the previous map-files for manually installing, see
At least I have installed Europe map (size is about 3.6 GB).
Probably, I did something wrong with Index so I was forced finally to copy and replace my backup files (but all European countries are available in details in Nokia Maps application and the car navigation works!).

This being user-to-user Forum, it was rather difficult (if not improbable) to reach out to the concerned dept. in Nokia just by posting here ..but have escalated the matter and was informed that it will be forwarded to the Maps team ...So hope for the Fix soon ...
