I've tried the manual reinstall as described in this topic, but is doesn't work for me.
In 'map version' it says '0.0.0.0' so looks like the software doesn't see the files on the memory card.
I've copied the files two times and re-read the instructions so I have no clue what could be wrong now...
Hope Nokia is keen to fix this issue asap.
Best regards
gijsbert

Put this file in diskcache folder and maps will get recognised
Anyone who understands HEX editing will find 00.02.46.103 map data version is written in it,
maps app needs this, without it it thinks there is no maps at all

Hello Vafolomey
I've put your upnzipped config file on the phone, 5230, and it works now, with .46 map data and the latest version of maps 3.06.
Is it supposed to work with the latest map data too?
Thanks for the workaround!

I have the same issue too (Nokia 500 in Belgium). I updated the maps and I also can't get the GPS working without Wifi turned on. I will try to reinstall the older maps.

Since updating my N8 with the latest Map version v3.06 11 wk 23 b05 00.02.47.103 my phone will only navigate when online. With the previous version offline navigation was possible. Why have Nokia made this change? I am concerned about data charges, particularly when 'roaming' on another network.

hi, what I did was - downloaded maps I need to my Nokia 500 - via wifi or via ovi suite - even the new erroneous version of maps. Then I have downloaded old maps 00.02.46.103 (new version is 00.02.47.103), I have downloaded the same countries I had in my phone already. I kept the new version of maps (cities etc folder) on my memory card and simply copied the old version over it. It worked, no data connection needed anymore for drive navigation. Tested with my new zealand map today. Map app in phone still says it has new version of maps. No need to change indexes etc, its already there from new map version.
URL for download of old maps for NOkia 500, maps v 3.06 is
http://static.maploader.maps.svc.ovi.com/map5/mapl
where the last part after the slash you replace with relevant country code - to be find in this pdf
I hope it will work for you as well

I got it back to work (with the old maps) this way:
Select the countries you need like leninoc said.
Then comes the hard part: combine all the countries.
delete folders 0 to f in diskcache on your phone.
copy 0 to f of the old maps
now it works (with the maps of april) without changing anything else, only you have the outdated maps.
Thanks a lot everybody for the help.
Now we will have to wait till Nokia finds out how to let us navigate without going online.

Hi, I'm an italian user.
I would like to thank varfolomey for making available the file config.cfg.
Now "Maps" shows exactly the version 00.02.46.103 like that really present in our Nokia.

If you look at the pdf http://discussions.nokia.com/discussions/attachmen
you find America, Europe, Asia,...
Those are complete. Or you can download each country apart.
