Region and maps

When will Cyprus become an option in region settings and when will there be available maps for this region? Its a shame because the phone is perfect (lumia 800) but can't be used to its full potential. I can't use Nokia drive or anything else and cannot buy anything from marketplace because it doesn't recognise the region. Other applications that are free like Nokia city lens are also faulty again because of the region. It shows only half of the places around me and it won't show me how to get there because there is"no route". Its a shame because I've always had a Nokia phone and eventually all of the people I know because of how satisfied I was. Now how can I recommend this phone when there are other ones out there that work without any problems? As I said before its a shame because it is such a good phone with tons of potential. If only we could use it here in Cyprus. Thank you in advance for any answers regarding the region and maps!

It was always to be hoped that Microsoft would have a bit more clout when it came to addressing a political issue that Nokia has managed to avoid for a number of years now and in the process end up causing inconvenience and offense to holidaymakers and residents alike.

A sign of change is that upon Windows Phone 8 devices provided application is "Online" mapping for Israel has now appeared although contentious issue of West Bank is studiously avoided.
