Hi lumiadunc,
Welcome to the Nokia Discussion Boards and thanks for posting.
The previous version of Nokia Drive (v1.x) had an issue where it would not send voice guidance over Bluetooth in some situations. This has been resolved in the update (v2.0) which is currently available in the Nokia Collection on Marketplace.
I would suggest in this case you un-install Nokia Drive, then install the new version and also download the used maps again.
[EDIT] After further investigation it turns out that voice guidance is not available through Bluetooth by design and is not intended to be used through a bluetooth connection.
Let me know how you get on,

Hi lumiadunc,
Welcome to the Nokia Discussion Boards and thanks for posting.
For correct operation bluetooth v2.1+EDR needs to be supported. A Bluetooth v1.2 kit will not be compatible.

I'm interested in this one as well. I use the Nokia BH-220, which has Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, but it will not work with Nokia Drive 2.0. I have re-installed the app pls maps, but to no avail.
The headset works fine with phonecalls, but not Nokia Drive - any suggestions?

Does Nokia Drive work with bluetooth enabled cars? I read somewhere that it transmits instruction using audio profile and not headset profile, is this right?

I'm using a Bose Bluetooth headset, which is a 2.1 EDR headset and my Lumia 900 won't send the turn by turn directions to it. I have Nokia Drive version 2.0.0.2148 installed on the phone.
Any ideas? I purchased a Lumia 900 so I could use Drive and it's turn by turn directions on my motorcycle with a Chatterbox headset but if the phone won't send the directions to Bluetooth then it seems I've wasted my money and will have to purchase a separate GPS unit and an iPhone.

Re the edit to Kosh's post; If Nokia think that disabling voice guidance to Bluetooth headsets and radios is a good idea then they really have lost the plot. The X6 was a poor phone but it was of more use than the Lumia 800.

I have a Lumia 800 and a Toyota Arion 2010. The Lumia phone functions work well with the Toyota Bluetooth. I haven't been able to ascertain the version of the Bluetooth to see if it meets the specification of v2.1+EDR. Anyway the Nokia Drive 2 voice commands don't work with the Bluetooth, however this will work standalone if I disable the Bluetooth.
What was Nokia thinking when they set different standards of Bluetooth for different functions of the phone. It seems you can use it as a phone or a gps but not both at the same time. This is a poor state of affairs for an expensive phone.
I need the hands free function of the phone but I would also like to use the GPS. I don't mind if the drive voice guidance is standalone (not through the Bluetooth) but it seems that the only way to get it to work at all is to disable the Bluetooth. My question is: Is there a way to "untangle" the drive voice guidance from the Bluetooth "hands free" so the hands free works through the Bluetooth bat the drive voice works standalone?
Cheers

Hello,
I have the same problem: Drive instructions disappear when I connect my Lumia 900 to my car's bluetooth handsfree.
Car: Skoda Octavia Scout 2012, Phone Lumia 900, Navigation 3.0.
This is annoying!
Does anyone know a fix??

I have a Ford Focus from 2009 with Nokia Bluetooth and a Citroen C1 with a Bury 9060CC bluetooth build in.
My old E66 supported driveinstructions and phone over the speakers in both cars.
Now with my Lumia 800 with bluetooth switched on driveinstructions doesn't even come out of the phonespeaker.
So its either speak or drive. Not both.
But to day I had it on bluetooth and used Nokia Drive. I made a phonecall and when I hang up I had about 10 sec. with voiceinstructions from the phonespeaker. How?
Is it because the bluetooth disconnects for a few seconds after a call?
And why is it that a new phone does'nt work with older bluetooth? People don't buy a new car for their phone but if the phone does'nt work with the car they buy another phone.

I'm entirely unsure why this thread is marked as solved - when the "go to solution" thing just says, it doesn't work, and there's probably no intention of making it work.
That shouldn't be marked as solved - it's doing it wrong.

I made some experiments:
It seems now that the drive instructions are sent to Bluetooth always when the Bluetooth connection to the car is active. When the handsfree system of the car is in stand-by (waiting for call) the audio-system of the car does not pass the audio signal coming from the phone through.
When I use the phone as music source for the system, the audio channel from phone to car via Bluetooth is open and instructions go through. In your case the auduío channel was open for some time after the phone call and you heard the instructions
I have also discussed about this feature with Nokia support (by e-mail) and asked them to find a solution. They promised to send this problem to the development team.
In my case (a car driver) a satisfying solution could be that the instructions are always forced through the phone's own speaker. I understand that this would not be a solution for a motorcyclist. So the route for the audio instructions should be configurable.

Eesor,
I have the exact same problem. My car is an Octavia estate 2010 (Bolero radio) and my phone is the Lumia 710. No voice guidance on Nokia Drive 3.0, even if I can play bluetooth audio from teh Lumia.
The problem is that, while I have Nokia Drive on GPS, I do not even see the BT-Audio button on the Bolero radio active.
How did you manage to do it through BT-Audio?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks so much

Hello, fernandes37
This is not a solution to our problem, sorry, but some explanation.
The BT-audio-button comes visible on the car radio when your phone is connected via Bluetooth AND you use the phone as a music player. In this case the music goes from the phone via bluetooth to radio speakers, and also the drive instructions go from phone to radio with the music.
Unfortunately this works only when you use the phone as music player. If you listen to the car radio, the drive intructions do not go through.
I suppose that the reason for this is that the phone sends the audio signal to bluetooth always when it is connected to some other device via bluetooth. But the car radio is not receiving this signal when the radio is on. Incoming phone call swithes the radio off (or mute) and opens the audio channel between radio and phone. Someone in this discussion chain earlier told that he had heard drive instructions from radio for a short while after a phone call. The explanation for this is that the audio channel is open for several seconds after the phone call has ended.
I believe that the only solution to this problem is that Nokia makes an option in Navigation where the user has a choice to send the drive instructions to bluetooth (for those who wants to use handsfree, like cyclists) or to phone's own speakers for car drivers.
Earlier I had Nokia E 7-00 and it worked well.
Well, even the Navigation was far better than in this Lumia system.
Regards
eesor

I am thinking of going for one of the new Windows 8 Lumias in the near future and this is a key factor in whether I will stick with Nokia or go elsewhere.
I ride a mototcycle and connect my phone through an Interphone F4 headset. Drive guidance was perfect on my old E71 but was missing on my N8 when I bought it. I was very disappointed and now have to go back to my 4 year old E71 when I need GPS.
Now I see that it still hasn't been resolved with a new OS and a new range of phones. Not impressed Nokia.
Resolve this simple problem or I will be buying my first non-Nokia phone in 20 years.

Suggestion of adding option of Separating Audio Outputs of Nokia Drive Instruction and Music Player
Hi,
I use my N8 for Navigation (such a great app!) and listening to podcast on many my long drives.
Normally I connect the phone to the Bluetooth of my car, when the Nokia drive gives a driving instruction, the voice ‘covers’ the music player playing in the background. And I my case, I am listening to podcast (only talking, not music). So I really don’t want to miss any word. And I don’t need the whole driving instruction heard by all my passengers in my car through the car speakers from Bluetooth/AUX connection.
So I suggest to add a simple option in the Nokia Drive, that user can choose the audio output of the Drive instruction. I am happy with the Drive instruction played still from my N8 speaker while at the same time the music player is outputting to Bluetooth/AUX to car speakers without any interruption from the Drive instruction. Because only the drive which sits near the phone needs to hear the Drive instruction, not all the passengers who just want to enjoy music/audio books/podcast without any interruption.
Other option could be that instead of ‘cover’ music playing, but to pause music player for the Nokia drive instruction, and resume music player when the drive instruction ends. Just like what happen when you listen to music and there is an incoming call.
Many thanks.
