I bought my nokia 6600 3 years back and now its battery is has started swelling up.The battery is not in the category of batteries that had to be replaced. Is it dangerous? can i get a replacement from nokia?

You can't get a replacement direct from nokia but you may be able to get one from a nokia care point.
Visit your nearest and they will tell you if you are entitled to a free replacement or not. Due to it's age you will most likely have to pay as batteries are classed as consumables.
For safety's sake you should stop using the battery and do not charge it.

It is still worth contact Nokia customer services with your 26-digit battery serial number to see if yours is one of the batterys affected by the issue with Matsushita-made BL-5C batteries from a few years ago:

(I show that link for information only - we tried to use it recently and it didn't work properly, but we called Nokia and they did a check for us.)

Better to get the device inspected by a Nokia Care technician. You may find your local NCC thru' this link ..
