Nokia e7-00 microUSB charging problems

Hi there

This is the first time I have posted so I hope this is in the right section.

I've had a nokia E7-00 for over a year now. Recently some fluff from my jeans pocket has managed to make it into the usb charge point  at the top.

I managed to get some of it out and at first it seemed OK.

Now however I have to really wiggle and push the charger in; if I hold it in it will start to charge, if I let go then it will stop. It looks like there is something stopping the charger fitting all the way in, as it gets pushed out slightly.

I can't start holding my charger to my phone for a few hours each day. In order to be able to use it.

Are there any suggestions of how to clean it, or any places that could potentially look at the issue. The fact it doesn't have a cover to protect the charge point strikes me as quite a design flaw as there was nothing I could to prevent this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated (in the UK)

Many thanks

As you have already tried cleaning the port to best of your abilities..you need to visit Nokia Care to get the job done perfectly .. In the mean time, is it possible to hold the device in a position that it will charge by providing some support to it ..e.g. between 2 books..

Please backup your essential data from your E7-00 via Nokia Suite as soon as practical before you lose USB connectivity completely, as it sounds as if microUSB block is becoming detached from motherboard. This is not uncommon unfortunately, but quite likely to be rejected upon warranty grounds due to "wear and tear" aspect of this component.

Re: Nokia e7-00 microUSB charging problems

Thanks for the quick replies.

The idea that it is coming loose from the motherboard sounds feasible as I do have to push it in beofre it charges.

I am a long time nokia user and liked the Symbian OS, and was thinking of upgrading to a windows lumia. They used to have good service and be good value with money. Durable and good features.

My E7-00 has me worried as it doesn't feel the samequality and it has been getting more faults over time. I am starting to get very annoyed by this now and feel that some of these flaws are design issues. If the charging point is not holding in correctly as a user I can't prevent that.

I also use it for work (as a modem amongst other things) and I require an internet conenction to access servers. Needless to say I can't go without for an exteneded period of time very easily.

I will try to wedge it between two books as suggested and hope that I can get it to charge, it isn't an ideal solution though. Not to mention after a year and the amount the phone cost this shouldn't happen.

Any further suggestions or ideas would be greatly apprecaited

Thanks

The phasing out of lead solders upon environemntal grounds has quite a lot to answer for when it comes to durability of such joints. E7-00 has always been regarded as an infrequent occurrence and it is too easy to blame abuse on the part of the owner as causative factor.
