ok this is getting a bit ridiculous.. 15 mins of usage (installing all the apps i've uninstalled for testing) with manual medium brightness, it dropped 5% !!
and another 6% in 5 min during installing the apps..
am taking mine back tomorrow for a replacement. Hopefully the replacement won't be as bad

I've not done thorough testing, but my experience is that battery life is wildly variable. Sometimes it will lose only a few percent overnight, other times it will lose half within a few hours. I can usually make it through the day, but it's very close and certainly worse than my iPhone 3GS. I think it seems to be getting a bit better after a few charges, but I'm still a bit disappointed.
Hopefully it can be fixed with a firmware update.

I'd like to add my name too.
Had it since Tuesday evening and from 100% at quarter to eight on the Wednesday morning it managed to get to about 4ish with 15%-20% battery remaining.
I turned off location based services the next day but that hasn't helped much.
Phone calls use 1% of power for every 2 minutes of call so that would mean 200 minutes of calls would kill the phone (Far below Nokia's advertised one which I believe is close to 6 hours?)
Even when on Standby it seems to gnaw through battery at an alarming rate.
Called Nokia Care today though and was put through to someone from the Lumia specialist team, they asked for details and such of what the phones been doing, so I told them what the Diagnostic said.
The Phone claims at all times to be charged to 65535% (which apparently is a glitch, it's the highest number in 16 bit binary or something like that is what the electronics teacher said when I mentioned it.)
I also told her that even though as it only has a 1450mAh battery inside, it claims to be capable of holding 1520mAh of power.
Once i'd given her the details she mentioned that they'd had a few people call about the battery, I asked how many and she said about 3 or 5.
She then said that the Lumia 800's Battery problems had been made the highest priority and that it was being passed to the people above them to investigate.
I decided that it might be worth asking "Based on the information I've given you would you have any opinion on whether it is a Hardware fault or a Software problem?"
She said she couldn't and that I'd have to wait for the investigation to come back.
She also gave me a Reference number and said that I should feel free to call back at any time to chase it up and they'd tell me if any more light had been shed on it.
Just thought people might want to know this.
Where have you all been...!!!
Nokia will not admit there is a problem with the lumia.
You lot on here probably make up about 2 % of sales for the lumia.
There are prob 100's of people out there that are not happy with it.
Some complain to their friends.......Some might complain to the shop....some complain on over websites, but there are prob about 50% of people that will just put up with it.
So you on here are insugnifficant to nokia.
We had Problem's with the N8 and nokia did not want to know as there was not enough people complaining as there was sales.
There have been minor complaints about other phones, but they did not want to know....as they made up about 0.001% of the sales.
So i dont hold out much hope for you lot.
I jumpped on the N8 as soon as it was launched and regretted it and had to wait 14 months for an update and that was not a lot of use, so now i use a blackberry.
Well I got a about 10 hours of usage out of my brand new Lumnia.
I started using it at 1200 yesterday evening with for a couple of hours and at 2000 I used it last, this morning it was dead, not only out of battery but dead. Did not come back even after charging.
Fantastic life of battery, now I can go back to the shop and get a new one.

I sent Nokia Care an email about the battery issue of my Lumia. I got the standard response. I replied that I've tried everything and tha the issue still reamins and they replied back by asking for a replacement from the store I have purchased it from.
So I guess that's the only solution at the moment..
Unfortunately, I don't feel like my replacement will do any better as it will be probably from the same batch
