The Software:
I am using NSU 1.8.10en to update to 1.2009.44.1.
The progress bar has stopped between the "at" of "Estimated time left x seconds."
The amount of time left has changed from 13 minutes, to 2 minbutes, to 1 second.
It has been stuck at 1 second for the last 15 minutes.
So far process has taken over an hour and I'm still not finished
The Hardware:
The Nokia screen has been on for the bulk of this process.
I've had phones behave poorly with NSU in the past, notably the 6263, but this is the first time one has failed to complete the process.
1- Is there something I can do to kick start this so it will finish?
2- With 1 second showing left on the program will I have a phone I can use or can re-flash into usability if I disconnectit at this point?

About one hour ten minutes into the process the got the "Update Failed" message.
Battery is about totally drained now, one bar when inserted in my 5800 XpressMusic
N900 will turn on to Nokia screen but that is all.
NSU can no longer find the phone.
Do I mail this to service center?
Can I still fix it myself?

from where did you buy your N900?
Try this great how to from Adamf:
/discussions/board/message?board.id=topfaq&thread.
But remember, the new firmware 2009-51 has been released today.
If you're in the UK, however, the file is not yet ready...
you MUST use a fully charged battery. it's great that you have a 5800.. charge the battery completely in that before you start

Back up and running! I haven't tooled around with the DOS prompt in years. The old instincts kicked in after a few moments. Thanks for the link to the recipe to fix it. I had seen it a few days ago when it had no relevancy for me and couldn't find it again when it was important. At the time I thought "I'm glad I don't have to mess with all that, it looks complicated." Indeed it is a few steps more than NSU but then this didn't brick my phone and NSU did. (bad NSU , go sit in the corner and wait until your father gets home!)
I bought my N900 from Amazon.com in the USA, which is where I am using it. Ordered it 12/17/2009 and receicved it 12/23/2009. I also bought one from Buy.com, which I am selling, that I ordered on October and received 12/23/2009. If it had arrived by the 16th I never would have ended up with two.
