I have followed cpitchford's instructions on
/t5/Maemo-Devices/N900-problem/td-p/599216/highlig
And
wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware
Ihave tried flashing my n900 on unbuntu and windows xp but i still cannot flash the eMMC.I can flash the firmware no problem just not eMMC. Im really not sure what the problem is with my phone. Can anyone help ?
Maybe this information will help you diagnose my problem.
My battery is fully chaged, i use an external charger because my phone will not charge.
i have tried flashing on xp and same thing i can flash the firmware but not the eMMC.
My phone never boots to the dots, i only get the bright nokia screen when pressing power, then it cycles every 20 seconds by vibrating, or i get the dark screen and usb icon when flashing after i plug in the usb.
I hear people get the yellow led blinking inbetween reboots when they are flashing the firmware. I am not getting this.
The problem with my phone first happened on day at work . I noticed every time i pulled the phone out of my pocket it was shut off. eventually it just didnt reboot after maybe the 5th time this happend.
maybe 1-2 days before i noticed it was rebooting i had loaded a bunch of information from my desktop onto the phone, pictures and favorites folder ect. About 8 gigs of data onto a folder in the main directory. I was using the phone as a tranfer device instead of a usb stick. And its still on there.
Read my sob story below if you wish
Please help me. Nokia refuses to service my phone because i live in canada and i bought the phone from USA on ebay. I even tried sending it in to them and they sent it back to me, with a note saying they wouldnt lay thier hands on it because its from the usa. And i got billed for the return shipping.

Do you have a working ubuntu system (or a way of flashing under Linux of any type?)
Can you post the output of flasher when you try and flash the emmc?

Maybe i have to flash the fiasco first followed by the eMMC in sequence ?
| eMMC content 1.2009.41-1 | Vanilla version of the eMMC content for Nokia N900 NOTE: Always flash the FIASCO image first, then the eMMC image immediately after that. Never boot up the device between flashing the FIASCO image and the eMMC image! |
if you dont mind me askin , what the heck is the fiasco, im assuming its the OS
2010-03-22 1:19
FIASCO is the OS image file..
you should be flashing the 3.2010.02-8.002 image onto your phone..
Flash that now..

Okay i just now flashed the
RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.b
then the
RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.b
in that order.
Those are the correct files right.
Also i had to pull the battery out after i flashed the
RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.b
Are my steps correct ? if not maybe just give me the sequence of steps you had in mind.
2010-03-22 1:38
Not too sure about the pulling the battery bit.. are you sure it finished sucessfully..
Either way, it should boot now, I would've thought.. Does it?
2010-03-22 1:41
No it doesnt boot. Ill try it one more time . First the OS then ill flash the eMMC, and ill try to keep the battery in and see if it works
2010-03-22 1:42 - edited 2010-03-22 1:48
Turn the Reboot option off when flashing the OS (option 2 will toggle reboot off)
.. gotta go.. back tomorrow
2010-03-22 2:08 - edited 2010-03-22 2:18
Okay i disabled reboot for the os flash. Then i flashed the os again
then i was able to leave the battery in to flash the eMMC
After both were complete my n900 came on and the nokia backlight was on with the blue nokia logo. That lasted for about 10 seconds as it usually does and then it turs off again.
There is no yellow led and i never get to the dot screen. ![]()
This phone i tell ya is really annoying me.
Ill charge my battery for tonight and wait to see if you have any ideas for tomorrow. Im really starting to think nokia is going to get away with not servicing my N900 and im going to be out a phone. ![]()

Hello epcortek,
I have the same problem. The flashing command is hanging there waiting for the N900 to be connected.
I have installed Windows XP Mode on Win7 and I have follow most of the instructions on Maemo.org and other web sites but it still get hang up waiting for something.
I have flashed the RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM first as stated and then RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM but it didn't work.
I have disabled the Digital Driver Signing in Win7 also and tried again but still nothing.
Can someone help me out? I am lost and don't know how to reflash the EMMC.
Thank you. Yanness
